Hi everyone, this is Avis Rainbolt aka Huntin Granny. I am Mark Rainbolt's wife. I want to thank all of you that posted the nice replies to Mark's story about my first deer taken with a bow. I have been hunting for a few years and have taken 3 with my rifle. Some may not consider what I harvested as trophies, but to me they are, as long as they provide meat for the family. I look forward to reading your stories and hope to have more of my own to share as well. Below is a pic of our "deer is down" dance. Sorry no video LOL

Thank you Mrs. Rainbolt, we're so happy you got your first deer with a bow. My wife has been with me 6 times so far this year with no luck. We're all so proud of you. Your trophy deer may be different from mine but that doesn't matter at all. The main thing you are hunting what God has created and given us the opportunity to hunt and put food on our table and feed our families. The deer we take and eat will be a lot better for our families than the pork or beef and chicken from the grocery stores that are shot up with steriods. Congrats once again and good luck on your next one.

Thank you guys! Eric, good luck to your wife, patience & perseverance is what it takes. I tried for years to harvest a deer with my recurve then my compound. Now because of my arthritis I can't draw back my compound anymore. Thanks to being able to hunt with a crossbow, I don't have to give up that part of hunting. I enjoy my Excalibur Ibex and watching how fast it shoots, is awesome.

Welcome to the family. The best trophy deer to me is the one in my freezer. I have always found those antlers hard to eat, although they can make some fine toothpicks

welcome!!! my wife is hunting deer first time this year with a crossbow, she got her first deer a few years back with a gun, it's nice to see the one you love get so excited getting a deer, a great feeling!!!
