Congratulations Tim! Cant wait to hear the whole story.
To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ??
We've been following this guy's travels for a while now. I was heading out to my watch mid morning and I actually saw his fresh tracks crossing the trail. I decided I would try to track him down and when I stepped off the trail into the bush there he was standing about 40 yards away. There were a lot of saplings and scrub brush between us and I couldn't get a clear shot at the vitals. It took me a few minutes to position myself for a clear shot. He was watching me the whole time trying to figure out what I was so I tried to keep a tree between me and his line of sight every time I moved. Finally I had a clear line of sight to the vitals so I pulled the trigger. He trotted about 40 yards and went down right next to the trail. As I approached him he lifted his head so I put another shot in him but then he got up! He was heading straight for the water so I put two more quick shots in him and down he went for good. Turns out the first two shots were right in the lungs so he would have expired anyway but I wasn't in the mood to go retrieve him from a beaver swamp. Spent the rest of the afternoon field dressing, quartering and hauling out. He's not the biggest bull I've ever seen but a pretty good size for our area (around 800 lb.). Dropped him with my Savage 99 in 300 SAV.
