I've been looking @ crossbow's for over 15-20 yrs. Never hunted with one.Have been hunting w/shotgun's[slug's] & Muzzel loader's...Anyway, I found a Phonix@ a pawn shop.They wanted $639.00 {U.S.}..talked the guy down to $475.00.It has an Excal.scope on it,one bolt comes w/it...need's new string and maybe a new serving?..I'm 6'1" #245lbs.and hunt White tail deer...Question is, is this the right x-bow for me :?: Thank's......

Welcome to the forum the Phoenix is a great crossbow. They're a couple of people on the forum that makes strings. Vixenmaster is in the classifieds for making strings. Danny Miller is the warranty rep for the U.S. if you ever need him here is his number 1 740 483 2312. I believe he makes all the stock strings for the Excal Crossbows. A lot of people also use BOO's Custom Strings also he is on the forum as well.

Enjoy and have fun they are a pleasure to shoot and learn as much about them as you can.

Welcome to the site!

I would say you have the best all round Xbow IMHO, many members here are using smaller Xbows for white tails deer, very successfully. It has some good punch with a respectable draw weight. I love my Phoenix, soon as you get yours tuned up, I think you'll be impressed with how capable it is. :D

You'll find a couple members here will be able to offer more info and custom strings too!

:D welcome, that's a great bow you got. you can buy things to make it more comfortable to shoot, like the cheekrest, and the ex-tend for the butt of the bow, makes it longer for long armed people. good luck and have fun.

The only thing I would change in this statement is (You will never look back)
Dan does sell Excal strings lower price then I have found anywhere else.

Welcome to the forum!

Phoenix is a great choice (that's what I use) but the main thing to look for when shopping for a crossbow is the Excalibur label - can't go wrong with any of them!

If you have not purchased it yet, Strum(a member here) has a Phoenix for sale in the Trading Post for $400, comes with a new scope, rope cocker, quiver and 2 arrows. Might be some thing to look at.
