Axiom 101?

Post by Weaver »

I recently purchased my first REAL crossbow, the Axiom kit. I love it. It's amazing. Having fired cheap crossbows before, this is a treat. Now, I was wondering if there was a video section or something with a "For Dummies" style guide or walkthrough? I would love a blow-by-blow of setting it up for optimal performance right out of the box. I've already used it a lot for target practice, but I can't help but think that there's something I could be doing better. Plus, I think a lot of people's introduction to crossbows will be the Axiom, because of it's awesome price point.

Anyone? Thanks!

I just purchased an Axiom last March and have shot it a little, but am still trying to get it broken in and zeroed. Did your kit have the DVD with it, if so there is a ton of information on it? Get a good target, not a foam 3d type target, like one of the bag targets and just shoot it a lot then start working on the details. Don't try to over complicate thing at first, just learn your bow. Later you can start messing with different bolts and weights or fletching or even building your own bolts. Get a stringer and a couple of extra strings and some extra bolts. If possible shoot from a bench or folding table at 20 yards, a measured 20 yards. That consistency will allow you to dial things in just the way you want them. Here in Iowa we are down to just a few days over 3 months until archery deer seasons opens, so if you shoot even 10 shots a day you would have about a thousand shots by then. That should be enough to make you deadly by the time the season opens. :D
