Yup, a broken tranny really sucks, and is usually expensive unless you can do the work yourself.

As for not hunting I'd say your lucky, isn't your season crazy long ???? Here its so short you do not want to miss any days out in the woods.

My season ended yesterday, luckily I got a doe because I never sever seen another deer the whole time I was out.

Lol thats what I did, put the back seats down and dragged the deer from the trunk to the front passenger seat on a big sheet of plastic, you get lots of funny looks from other people on the road lol but it works.

Sorry to hear of the truck issues. Big plastic painter's sheets will work wonders ... you know the type like they use in the movies when, the mob boss calls the guy into the office, and the guy is standing on plastic. Never a Good Sign LOL! But it works. :)

I owned a Volkswagon beetle when I shot my first deer. Not having much in the way of trunk space, I tied it to the roof and drove home and later to the butcher. A few people stared. This was well over 30 years ago when it was relatively common to see deer and moose tied to cars during hunting season.

When I was a kid you used to see deer on car and truck hoods all the time during hunting season, now I couldn't tell you when the last time I saw it. I think some states may have even oulawed it, I guess they're afraid it might offend someone. Boy times have changed eh?

They just don't make car hoods as strong as they used to thats why you do not see deer on hoods anymore.
