Axiom is deadly part 2

I shot my 2nd deer on my 2nd try on Saturday evening with my new Axiom, love this crossbow. I was in a tower stand about 20' high and it was a 15 yard shot, I used the 20 yard crosshairs so my shot was a little high, a double lung pass thru, the doe jumped really high and ran right thru a barb wired fence. The stand is at the corner of 3 property lines and the land she ran into is owned by a tree hugger who don't like hunters. It was late in the evening about 40 minutes before sundown, so I climbed down and there was a lot of blood on my arrow and a decent blood trail up to the fence, so I only waited about 10 minutes and decided to start tracking her, the land is really thick brush but the blood trail was easy to follow. She circled back around and thru another barbed wire fence onto the other property, (these guys are hunters) and ran up beside a pond. At the edge of the pond the blood trail stopped, I looked all thru the brush and could not find any blood, so I went back to the last blood spot on the ground which was on the edge of the water and noticed blood on the water, looked out in the pond and she was about ten feet from the shore floating but all you could see was her side. I had called my hunter buddy to come and help me before I had started tracking her and he showed up in his rubber boots but the pond was to deep so we found a long stick and dragged her to the side. She probably ran about 120 yards. Like I said before wish I would have bought an Excalibur years ago.

Congrats on yer deer & the good recovery. Sometimes they can cover abit of ground before fallin on it

You can shoot 2 bucks and 2 does in this county, combined both bow and gun season, but there are antler restrictions you have to follow on the bucks and you can shoot 2 does during bow season, but once gun season starts on first week in November you have to have special tags to shoot does, we don't have any so we are shooting our does now. After gun season starts I will start hunting the national forest were I have drawn a doe tag, bigger bucks in the forest also. Combined for the whole state you can shoot 2 bucks and 3 does

Congrats on # 2 and a great recovery. I shot a small buck once that also ran into a small pond and all I could see was a small brown spot that looked like a rock in the water at first glance. Hope you get a buck on your next trip Good luck
