16" Bolt for Vixen

Post by BRASF0311 »

I just put a Vixen rail on my ExoMax and I'm lovin it. I can cock the Xbow with out the rope cocking aid and it balances so much better now. The 20" bolt seems really long now though. I was thinking about using 16" bolts, thinking that the shorter bolt would allow for a stronger heavier walled bolt to make up the weight loss.

What is your thoughts and experience with 16" bolts? Would aluminum 2219's work? Thanks.

I have used 16" 2114 & 2216 out of my older Vixen. 2219 should be as good as they were.

How are your bolts set up? What weight broadheads do you use? What is the overall weight of your bolt? Any benefit over an 18" or 20" bolt? Thanks.

2" Blazer vanes, plastic rear nocks, 110gr brass in the 2114, alum. in the 2216. Shoot 100gr pts/bh's. Have to find them & weigh them. 18 vs 20 is more of a distance accuracy thing. Longer yardage shot the more accurate arrows are wid more length

If you can get 16" bolts to fly the great thing is that they come in 32" full length so 1 dozen shafts would give you 2 dozen arrows. I wish zombies came in 36" bare shafts.

I found the 2114 16" it weighs 403gr. I think i had the 2216 about 353-354gr because it has alum. front insert. They are not as accurate as the 2114 because of the alum. insert jus lacks the nose weight
