Mineral sites.

Hey folks, tell us about your mineral sites. What you use, near trails,crop fields, under trees...ect. Now I only got 8acres, but thick, and lots of different topography. Started some a few weeks back.. 1 under my apple tree in back corner next to neighbors corn and 2 in my woods
Now they diggin holes with dirty feet!

They were workin feeder up front.. Ground was flat!



Right we're I buried the stuff, the ground...started growing holes.


And looks like this now..only worse.. (cam still out there)

This is my 1st time doing this... Other than a salt block back in the day. So chime in. You guys see this with your sites? Oh, been using 36FOUR.

Looks like you got some pretty good mineral licks started!
What is 36FOUR? I googled it but didn't find anything related to minerals for deer.

I've been using Deer Caine powder and have some good mineral holes established.

It's made by Trophy Rock. Comes in 30 lb bag from Tractor supply.

You got em coming in there for sure. Get some cheap peanut butter, screw the lid to the tree, and cut the bottom off. They will line up for that!

I'll tell you something the mineral companies wouldn't want you to know about.
Kool Aid!
Mix you up a big Jug of Kool Aid and pour it in a spot to get your mineral site established. Then just keep adding some more packs of Kool Aid dry on top of that as needed or you can keep mixing it in a jug and taking it out there. It really doesn't matter. They will tear it up. If you don't want to fool with mixing It in a jug, you can just carry the packs out when you go hunting and keep your spot established.

I've had great luck with Rackstacker Blaze minerals. You top off a tree and screw the Bucket of blaze on top, the bucket has holes so every time it rains the wet salt mix runs down the tree. I do not have recent pics, but here are some older ones, the deer literally eat the bark off the tree, this 8pt seemed to like it

I've been using Blaze and Deer Cain and Rack Rocks, Glory, all went into this.
There was a stump and a tree root (large) as well as a 8'ft. tree cut for a fountain which came down from deer cannibalization!
This is there now! About 7'ft. in Dia. and 6"in. deep. That log is 5'ft. long still.

I use white and red mineral salt mixed with Di Calcium Phosphate I've been using this combination for years now and it really brings them in.

The Kool Aid idea sounds very interesting I might try that as well to see how they react.

That sounds like the same recipe my brother gave me last week. He said the deer are ripping up the ground where he put it. This is a new mineral site he started, it's 3 weeks old in the picture. I think I'm going to try some. Maybe mix the kool-aid in with the mineral mix?

LOL! That's my nephew. Actually my bro' said they did pour in a couple warm beers in the hole on top of the minerals. Should be some happy deer out there

I use rack n stack in rotten cottenwood logs. Like said abovementioned, the deer eat the whole log. Once in spring and once in early fall.

After talking to my brother again and doing some reading I decided to try this, so on the way home from work this evening I bought 200 lbs of ingredients, cost about $54. The recipe he gave me (and I've read this elsewhere) says not to mix it up until you're ready to use it. I don't see why you couldn't mix it in a bucket at home then head out to your site. Hester, how do you do yours?
