new 355 with questions
Hi friends, got my 355 out of lay away finally. I am very happy with the bow but when I shot it thru a chronograph it registered only 343 with the diablo bolts that came with the bow. Brace height is set at 7/8". Anyone have some thoughts? Sighted it in at 20 and 30 yds but when I shot it again today it I was off 2 or 3 inches at 20 yds. Went online to this forum to search for answers and found it, four screws for scope mount were loose. The gentlemen at the bow shop didn't put thread lock on the screws, so I did it tonight. I will wait couples days to resight it in. I owned a Carbon Express crossbow, sold it, to heavy & rotten trigger. Bought a Strykeforce 380, liked it but 3 friends of mine had theirs limbs fail, gave it to my brother. Got my 355 and love it, should of bought one in the first place. Thanks

Welcome to the forum camper! Your strings will stretch with use and you will have to use your string remover to add twists to it to bring it up to the proper brace height. Make sure you twist the string in the same direction as it is now. Sight in your scope at twenty yards, then go to forty yards and use your speed dial to sight in the 40 yard chevron or crosshair. You should now be sighted in for 30 and 50 yards.
Have fun and shoot safe,
Hank

Welcome to Team 355! That speed is right if your total arrow weight is around 400 grains.

Re: new 355 with questions
The Matrix 355 comes with the 150 grain tips to match the Boltcutter broad heads so your speed is right in there. Our speeds are obtained using minimum arrow weight which would be the diablo with a 100 grain tip.I am very happy with the bow but when I shot it thru a chronograph it registered only 343 with the diablo bolts that came with the bow.

Re: new 355 with questions
Thanks for the welcome, I am from Mid-Michigan. The speed question arose because I was using 100 grain tip on my diablo bolts. Maybe my chronograph is off. Have not had a chance to check the scope today, it's been raining on and off. I was shooting from a Caldwell lead sled just to take human error out of sighting it in.
Re: new 355 with questions
Do you have an arrow scale? Weigh them bolts to get you total weight. As for shooting through the Chrony, make sure you have at least one arrow length before the front of the Chrony, and bow. Also, if you are shooting down at the target, say 8 degrees, make sure the Chrony is tilted too, so the arrow passes through level to the sensors. It does make a difference!

I only get 333 fps with my m355 and diablos. Your are doing great.
Re: new 355 with questions
I get 335 with a 426grn. Diablo fast enough for me . I am shooting a 170 tip to match my broadhead . they are very accurate. half the fun of shooting is in the trial and errors . have fun and good luck

Re: new 355 with questions
Thanks xcaliber I will try that, when it stops raining here. The speed doesn't bother me, it will kill anything I hunt that's for sure. My question to the speed has to do with watching excalibur ad about being true to its advertised speed. Just wanted to be sure my bow was ok. I will be hunting with carbon express bolts that are 18" and weight 380 grains with my grim reaper broadheads.

Hey Happy Camper! Xcaliber and Vixenmaster both told me not to sweat the speed thing.( a slow bow) I'm shooting a matrix 355 @ 335 fps w/ a rough 400 grain arrow. same hole at 20 yards, 30 yards nickel sized groups and 40 yards 1 inch or better, thats if i work to do my part . . . speed is nice, but accuracy killsHappy Camper wrote:Thanks xcaliber I will try that, when it stops raining here.
