Re: HOOKS UP? OR DOWN?
This issue is not when you cock the bow. The issue is when you decock. When you place your hooks on the string to decock, you have a point in your actions where the hooks are not fully engaged on the string. At that point, if it's dark and you've engaged the hooks from the top, you cannot see the string fully enter the hooks. With the hooks installed from under the string, you can see the string fully enter the hook or not fully enter the hook.
It's happened to me once and it isn't happening again because I engage mine under the string.

I have never used the rope to let the string down, so I didn't think of that situation.

I use hooks up, that's what your supposed to do with The SZ350 I have , and I just do the same with my 2 recurves also. Works for me.

If its "dark" one could not "see" full engagement and would resort to feel for such. While cockin or decockin it don't matter, the visual can be made more than "one way". Good luck.
Re: HOOKS UP? OR DOWN?
Hooks up here. Just started out that way and like the fact that I can see the rope in the hooks.
