BBD...and now for the rest of the story!!!
...Big Buck Down...will fill in the details later....
....and now for the rest of the story....
My middle son Christopher decided yesterday that today (after his last class ) around midday to get up in his stand about a quarter of a mile from where I shot my monster fawn on Saturday ...he just had a good feeling after taking his doe on Sunday ...the trail camera had indicated there was a nice buck lurking around...there was only one buck on the trail camera and it was a nice 7 pointer...well Anthony and I ribbed him incessantly through texts all afternoon....about 5:30 he decided to grunt a couple of times...finally the bruiser from the camera (or so we all thought ) started making noise in front of his perch....
Christopher picked him up about 60 yards out as he slowly made his way in...not spooked at all....he was in no hurry just struttin his stuff as he made his way in...Christopher saw what he thought were 8 points on this guy...never again to look at the points....he laid the crossbones cross hairs on him....
...slowly taking off the safety of the M380 he waited for what he said seemed like hours until he came in to about 25 yds and presented a broadside shot...slowly squeezing the trigger he unleashed a Diablo, topped off with a Boltcutter...he followed the Lumenok beacon as it hit and then disappeared into the buck and reappeared on the ground saying, "here I am"...the buck buckled and bolted about 50 yds...stopped and did his drunkard swaying, fell over and after a couple of fruitless attempts to get up....it was over...
...within a half of an hour Anthony and I were on our way to assist with loading this monster 8 onto the deer carrier and off to the butcher...
...well it wasn't the 7 pointer from the camera after all and a later review of the camera shows there now are a few more deer on the camera along with the 7 pointer and a few other bucks....
...he really did a great job and now holds the record for the largest deer that this family has taken....
...anthony and I couldn't live with his big head before but now, "faggetaboutit!"
