Matrix 405 Issue
Well, I got my 405 front end back with new limbs from Wood's Friday..
Everything looks normal. Limbs and front end look assembled properly but now my broad heads will not shoot with my field points now. Now my broad heads are shooting low and to the right of my field tips... About 2" right and roughly 2"-3" low at 40 yards
Prior to having the limb splinter my bow was shooting to the same POI as my field point. Shooting 20" BEE's with 110 grain brass inserts and 100 grain field points, 100 grain ST Standards and TT trigger... Nothing on my set up has changes.. Same arrows, string, scope, field tips and broad heads..
I even took the scope and rings off the rail and re-mounted it as well.
I've disassembled the entire bow down to parts and have put everything back together aside from taking the limbs off the riser and re- mounting them.. I'm not comfortable doing that.. but to no avail, broad heads are still low and right..
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong..

Re: Matrix 405 Issue
I am by far not any kind of expert on excaliber crossbows, but I have plenty of experience with other bows.
It is not uncommon at all for field tips and broadheads to shoot differently out of the same bow, actually this is the norm from my expierience. If they shot the same off of the old limb set up you were lucky.
I don't believe you have a problem, maybe another broadhead would shoot closer to your field tips. My axiom shoots 2 inches lower with my slick tricks than with field tips, I believe this.is.because they are the same grain but a little longer than the.field points therefore putting a little more weight forward, it doesn't take much to change poi with seemingly subtle differences.
Like I said, no expert here, but you did change around one of the most important components to your bow, some kind of change is possible as far as poa to poi.

Re: Matrix 405 Issue
My guess would be that the new limbs are not as closely matched in actual poundage as the first set. Excalibur does have a tolerance range and the limbs are not all exactly the same poundage. If one limb is at the low end of the range and the other at the high end it would probably cause what you're saying to happen as broadheads can be a lot more problematic than field points.

Guys thanks so much for all the input. I have zero confidence at the moment with it...
So most shooters have to sight in separately with their broad heads?

G.N. I can't remember the last time I have shot a field tip. Would have been a 3D shoot, sight in your broadheads and your good. Just pick your spot and shoot. You'll be fine don't forget to tell us about your harvestGrassyKnoll wrote:Guys thanks so much for all the input. I have zero confidence at the moment with it...

I want to know what my Bheads are doing and sight in accordingly.
sight your B heads in and go hunt..
One thing you may try just to put your mind at ease it..swap the limbs around and see what happens..

Re: Matrix 405 Issue
I have aways wonder about the BH shooting the same as field points.
I have always had to make adjustments when switching between both.
I say maintain your brace height make the adjustements needed to get back on target. Note the total adjustment required so as you switch back and forth you will be usually ready to with confidences . Fear you may be a over thinking it.
However understandably to say the least after the unpleasant experience you went through with your 405

At 20yds my Ibex is 2" right and 2"right with fixed blade broadheads.I have never had the limbs off but have been curious if as wabi mentions their poundages are at the outside edge of matching tolerances.

Re: Matrix 405 Issue
Keep the info coming guys, it is appreciated greatly..
Is there a way to check the limb deflections? Are they marked on the underside where it attaches to the riser?

Re: Matrix 405 Issue
Currently with my 380, my POI is the same with my broadheads, but that is an oddity in my opinion. My compound NEVER sighted in the same. Sight in with broadheads, and then shoot until you rebuild your confidence. You don't have a problem of any sorts if you ask me.

Thanks for the link...
Just swapped my limbs...One was marked 9.0 and the other one was marked as 9.5... Funny thing is the brace height seems almost perfect on either side of the rail now. Maybe off .02" according to my micrometer gauge. I realize this measurement is nothing to worry about but now I have to shoot it to see if the limb swap will make any difference..
BTW: does anyone know where I can get extra screws those two small brackets on top of the limbs next to the limb bolt screws.. I'd like to have a few extra.
