I use an Android based system, I have all the current phones, and it is what I like best. Galaxy S4

Sorry, those things just drive me nuts..

I have been using an app for several years now in our remote swamps. Works great tracking me and marking any waypoint with a variety of icons and even photos, which is neat. It uses satellite and topo maps and transfers to my iPad when I get home. It's called Trimble maps-there is a free version and a fancy version.
That "Trimble" gets pretty awesome reviews, I have a lot of map programs, but one more wont hurt..

I have a Moto-X Android phone and one feature it has is , It allows me to take a snapshot of anything on the screen . So I use a site called maptech.com . At this site you can view Topo maps for free , When I bring up an area Im hunting I take a snap shot of it and put in my pic gallery . Another thing I like is turning on my navigator and hitting the satellite menu ( Google earth ) and Taking a snapshot of an Aerial view of my hunting areas and transfering it also to my gallery . Great tools for hunting and getting to know the area .

My favorite smartphone hunting app is called the Primos Wind app.
This app allows you to set a GPS location at each of your stands and while at work, or anywhere, I can look at wind direction at each of my stands to make a decision about which stand to sit that day.
Would like to hear what other new and useful smartphone hunting apps you have found lately.
I use an app called hunt stand. It gives you legal hours maps weather forcast etc lets you mark 4 stands and will update wind direction and weather for each.

This hunting app is location specific but if another app creator can come up with a similar app for your state/prov I'm sure you would appreciate it: iHunter AB. Has all WMU's stored in its directory, legal descriptions of WMU's, provides one touch link to the regs for the WMU you are currently in, the complete hunting regulations for the entire province, adds waypoint at current location, input lat/lon, input gps location or press on the map to add location. Centre on your location, zoom in on your current location (satellite map, topo map or hybrid map). Sun up/down times, weather, text your location, email your location, call report-a-poacher.
For fishing I like Navionics (US&Canada)
Strelok Pro for ballistics
E/M/MOBUI330 (Finn-esse)
E/M/N335 (Finn-bad)
Click "User Control Panel", "Profile", Location: (you don't have to tell everyone you're "in a van down by the river") but for Pete's sake, what state/prov or country are you in?
I HUNTER Ontario, keeps me informed on what is in season and bag limits..
New one I have been enjoying, Huntstand lite. It marks stands and shows wind direction on each one. Also measures property sizes, bird landing directions. Mostly used for measurements, but the wind direction has proven to be flawless for me.
And of course, Fade.

colouredchameleon wrote:The Fade App.
The version I have loaded on my Android phone. (Samsung Galaxy S-3)
When fall does occur the Fade APP sends out three different alerts.
1. Text message
2. Email
3. Also it Actives the Phone to automatically dial hands free a Phone Number for live person to person communication.
The other nice feature is the Text Message and Email sent contains your actual Location.
Google Map GPS coordinates if you have your phones Location Setting
(Activated / ON).
Tap on highlighted coordinates in message will bring up an actual Google map view of the area. Which can then be viewed with satellite view for a detailed view of the location
There are screen shots on the first page.

HF, I responded to your PM, but apparently it was flagged because it "contained links to illegal software", when in fact it didn't.
First time I have seen that message, don't know if the message went through, but it contained nothing illegal, nor did it suggest such a thing.
Board software must not have liked the refrence to android.

You turn it on and off, screen shot of on/off button on page one of this thread.
You select one of three fitness modes, also used at the level of impact needed to trigger the alarm. Walking biking or more aggressive. I use more aggressive for in trees. It can be set more sensitive for situations like grandma at home and taking a fall.
You can then set the amout of time wanted before you reset the app. If you drop your phone the app detects it and you have "x" amount of seconds to reset it before it sends the text and email.
When I climb I hit the button and forget about it, it remembers your last settings. On Android there is also a widget to access it faster.
