Middleton problems?

Post by awshucks »

borrowed from another xbow forum, believe it was originally posted by joe171 from here:

GUYS THIS DOES NOT LOOK TO GOOD FOR DERRICK

A company by the name of Middleton Longo Crossbow Manufacturing inc. was named in the Ontario gazette Toronto publication(October issue) as being in default in complying with the corporations tax act.

Excerpt from government notice:

"NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under subsection 241(1) of the Business Corporations Act, that unless the corporations listed hereunder comply with the requirements of the Corporations Tax Act within 90 days of this notice, orders will be made dissolving the defaulting corporations. All enquiries concerning this notice are to be directed to Ministry of Finance, Corporations Tax, 33 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario L1H 8H6."
.............................. ..........................

Link to publication: http://files.ontariogovernment.ca/ga..._147-43_wa.pdf (page 2274 right hand side)

I do not know if this is the same company or corporation as Middleton crossbows (DTMSS line) owned by Derrick Middleton, but do know Derrick did have a Toronto manufacturing address that he shut down some time ago (separate corporations?) and may be the corporation named as being in default when in actuality ceased operations some time ago.

However, if the Middleton Longo Crossbow Manufacturing Inc. belongs to Derrick Middleton and is currently Derricks only operating crossbow corporation, then the continuation of Middleton Crossbows as we know may be in question.

Pretty sure Lightfoot posted that.

Not sure about Canadian procedures but all that would mean in the USA is that your Corporate name is no longer valid in the eyes of the Government. At least until you play catch up and send them their money at which time your Corporate name would be reinstated as long as it has not been taken by someone else in the meantime.

Don't know about 'lightfoot'. I gave credit to where I got it.
DM is an interesting character. I was here, on Excal, when DM and Bill T went at it in [???] 06/07/. Can't recall.

The threads didn't last long, lol. I feel sorry for the folks that have DM bows. They drank the kool-aid, as we are all wont to do occasionally.

I've been called a 'hater' on another forum, references made to my w[h]ine consumption, ect. lol.......

To me, if a new xbow passes the 20/20 test, [20 mph at 20'] and there's an obvious difference, all's well. Horton, Parker, 10 Pt, [among others] all brought out recurves, yet only one or two is left.

When a new xbow doesn't pass that test, and, parts interchange something is wrong.

Someones [Excal] R&D has been stolen.......

Search DM, he doesn't pay his bills, has been sued by suppliers [they won] blew a ginormous deal w/ Bohning, the list is endless.

I think it was his superior customer service that was his undoing.

Look out, I bet a donkey is coming to cry bully!!

From my lowly perspective it appeared that yes, he made his start on the designs of Excalibur. Then it looked like he was doing some of his own designs with limbs and whatnot..and when it looked like Meddleton was about to go big with a large Co, he screwed it up. ..And he cheated some folks out of $,... and had(has?) some lawsuits against him...multiple forums claim its near impossible to get a hold of him. Lightfoot has some sort of stake in this, no? Him ive met in person and I found him to be a good guy and im sorry to hear that hes ever been involved with anything meddleton.

I also believe D. Middleton attempted to copy the Trigger Tech unit as well. Does anybody have any addition info on the Dirt Bag?

I heard a story about Mton and TT. It's just a story at this point, but Mton was at a meeting w/ TT and someone [can't recall their name].

When the TT rep stepped out a minute, DM tore apart a trigger and was 'miking' it when the TT rep returned.

I tried to get a 'Snyper' trigger, then found out he didn't copy the TT, so I gave it up.

Y'all recall DM's posts on AT about how an arrow fired from his xbow [same grs and fps as an Excal] would penetrate a target further???

Is nothing sacred, lol?

A good friend of mine bought a Maximus Crossbow against my counsel a few years ago to save a few bucks. When his scope crapped out on him over a year ago he got the run-around from Middleton and the dealer. At first no replies to emails and phone calls. Then contact was made, the scope was on it's way! A year and some months later, still no scope. When I tell him he got rooked, he insists that Middleton has it on back order. My friend is no idiot, he's a smart guy, (he really should read this forum though).

I am convinced that Derrick Middleton must be some kinda con artist to make an intelligent person believe in lies like those.

I don't see his bows around anymore. The last I seen one was in Brad Ingolds shop. Coincidentally I was out in front of Brads shop yesterday, I am trapping in the house right across the road. Brads signs were not there, I don't know if he moved or what. Perhaps they were just covered in snow.
I exchanged a few emails with DM a year or two ago, I had some suggestions for him, he seemed interested but our contact faded away. I suspect he was in pretty deep at that point.
Can't help but wonder if Bohing archery could have saved him, sometimes merges like that do more harm than good. Bowtechs influence on Excalibur has mixed results. The days of the bullet proof bows seem to be over, exchanged for speed and cosmetics.
