scope rings and Nikon scope

Post by strum »

I got my Nikon in today .. all excited to complete my Micro and the balloon poppoed
the Nikon doesn't fit using the Excalibur rings.. its too low in the front..so its either cut the front tabs on my scope mount or get some rings..you guessed it ..I ordered some rings.. I had put one of these on my 380 but used the same rings I ordered tonight..didn't know the Excalibur ones are too low.
well it looked good on there at least

I got em off ebay . they are weaver medium rings .. inexpensive but about the same as the Excalibur rings.
actually the Nikon would work but you have to place it farther forward than I like.

Blayne I kinda knew that was going to happen but I thought I should try before I ordered the rings.
It wouldn't hurt anything to cut the front tabs off the scope rail but not the way I care to do things.

Strum I think you will like the Nikon Bolt have one on my Ibex and really like it. To bad about the rings, I read before I replaced my stock scope that I would need med rings, and sure nuff did. I used the u.t.g. med rings 4 screws per ring they are heavy duty. The scope and rings really dress up my crossbow nice......

I had to go to aftermarket rin's on my crossbow's as well. One set of Weaver mounts and one set of Warne. Here are 2 pics showing you my med. rings with the Bolt XR.
Skittle- when you get your P-223 BDC 600, if you have any question's drop me a note. I have 1000's of rounds under that scope and love it.

I got my rings and mounted up the scope,
Im sure the leupolds are better scopes but I have to say, these
Nikons look like they belong on the Micro.

Yep, and Grassy Knoll posted pics with his Hawke that looks pretty well fitted for them as well! Good glass on the Bolt, should serve you well!

I actually got my Bolt XR as a refurbished unit from Natchez ($99). Can't tell it's refurbished and the optics are great for the $$. I went with Millet medium height rings if I recall correctly. Front bell has about 1/8" clearance to the rail. Size-wise I belive it to be perfect for the Matrix series.

I zeroed out at 30yds with my hunting arrows (408grs @ 334fps). This puts the upper thick to thin transition on the vertical cross hair dead on at 20yds. The first index circle below the crosshairs is 40yds. I've not tested past that distance yet. I've guessing the second index down would be 50-52yd-ish.

I have the Nikon P-223 on my AR-15 with the Nikon P-Series two piece mounts and it is awesome . Size and weight are perfect and it's rock solid - you will love it .
