Darn praticing day before season starts and scope breaks!

Post by cadmaster »

Went out to day to do some scouting and practice with my Axiom crossbow (pre smf version).

At 20 yards the first 2 shots were only 3 inches apart (not as accurate as normal) the last 4 were all on target but the grouping was 12" plus. During the last shot I actually could see the reticle rotate just as I fired. it is currently 10-15 degrees out of kilter.

I attached a picture on my FB page as the site has reached quota.

Just sent in a warranty rma and waiting on a response.

I guess my season is over before it starts and we found a deer highway to hunt that was sure to be perfect!

I will Vixchix. Got to give them at least 24 hours though.

I have had the Axiom since about 2010 and this would have been my first archery hunt experience. I have only fired about 85 bolts through the crossbow and take very good care of it. I even bought a Plano Bowmax Pillarlock Bow Case 1143 to store it in (with riser removed of course).

With the spots I found I would have had an excellent chance of a nice buck. Right now I feel as low as you can get.

Hopefully Excalibur will be fast but I cannot see it taking less than 2 weeks.

One option I would suggest in the meantime if you have or can borrow a rifle or shotgun scope to switch with the problem scope.
Then set up your crossbow to shot 25 yds with the cross hair then you should be good for the time being for shots restricted from 20 to 30 yds.

Once the scope is mounted would think it would be rather quick to set up with only a few set up shots. (30 mins tops)

I feel your pain.
Especially with Bow Season opening tomorrow .

Good Luck

I think if I were you, and season is starting tomorrow, I would find whatever rifle scope I have on hand and stick it on the axiom just to get me through till you get you other one taken care of.

Anybody know what is the usual wait time for a replacement scope?

I had mine delivered xpost (2 business day delivery) at 11:53 am Monday Oct. 5 (according to tracking number). They did not open it until 10:30 am Tuesday. The RMA is still showing received but no activity since 10:30 am tuesday.

The RMA says no repair pending so I imagine they will replace it. I would have thought that since it is being replaced it would be fast as all you have to do is walk to a shelf and grab another and tell the computer to print a shipping label stick the scope in a shipping bag attach the label and into the courier or mail. When I was still working I did similar stuff in 10 minutes or less.

What is the usual procedure with warranty work? I never have sent anything in under warranty before, so I have no idea what to expect.

the post http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2 ... 63#p570279 says do not call or email as it just slows things down.

I realize that it only a couple of days, but deer season is already a week old and I jonesing to get out as well as hate waiting upon a events out of my control.

I think the recommendations at using a rifle scope set at 25 or 30 yards will get you going ASAP . Also the plain jane MAP Hawke is cheap and works well.

Most all serious hunters keep spares around so they don't run into this problem . Murphy always has perfect timing ...... Good luck to ya!
