Micro's in Michigan

Post by Carnivorous »

Myself a buddy & his 10 year old son hunted the Michigan Archery opener. We were faced with strong NE winds for the 3 days we hunted. All of our stands were set-up for mainly west & south west winds so things were not looking good for us.

Day 1 no deer seen opening morning. I was lucky to score on a nice 4 point during the afternoon hunt. 25 yard heart shot 50 yard recovery.

Day 2 the young lad made a perfect double lung shot on a nice big doe @ 18 yards. He has the patience of a saint because he had to wait over 8 min for the doe to present the perfect shot. Not many adults would be able to wait for that perfect clean killing shot. Easy 20 yard recovery.

Day 3 no deer seen.

Both deer taken with the micro & 16.5" zombies fletched with 2" blazer with the new NAP xxx broadhead. Both blood trails were excellent & entry & exit wounds were huge!!

All in all a great 3 days of bow hunting in the great state of Michigan.

....I just love the story and most importantly to see the future of our beloved passion out in the woods enjoying the Lord's splendor....and then to have the opportunity and patience to harvest a beautifully healthy doe.....priceless!

Congratulations! Nice deer and a good job by both of you. Yes the ENE winds have been killing me the last few days. I am at home right now because of it and itching for Tuesday when its suppose to change to a west wind. Camera shows I have some big boys using the funnel area I am hunting and a east wind will give me away. You both were able to adapt and have success awesome.
