Turkey feathers fletching
I just order some 2219 bare shafts.I'll be fletching them with natural turkey feathers. My ? is what feather cut style do you like?I was thinking about using the low banana cut. I'm thinking this will give me clearance in the channel.

I like Trueflight 2" shield back cut feathers. You might use that as a pattern. They will send you free samples if you ask.

With banana cut feathers you won't be able to have very much offset/helical because of the with of the arrow channel. A shield cut you'd give you maxumim guidance and look cool!

You autta talk to Outback about saving the wing feathers off all the geese he's been busy helping to manage. ....personally feathers would never be an option for me with the amount of rain we have here.

Re: Turkey feathers fletching
My experience is that they work as well as a Blazer when fletched with an Arizona EZ Fletch Bolt. I'm shooting ~~ 1" groups with Ramcats and Slick Tricks with them on 16" Zombies. Trueflights are much more consistent than the Gateway Rayzrs - but both control a BH.Boo wrote:Keith? Re: Turkey feathers fletching
Just a suggestion. Try fletching tape during experimentation. Removing that is easier than removing glue.

Boo and WELSHMAN
I have a rookie question. I have always fetched with glue and never get to the end of a tube before it sets up and can't use it later. I've never known someone to use fetching tape. When using tape does the fetching handle many shots through practice sessions? Where do you purchase it?
Thanks Gentlemen

Re: Turkey feathers fletching
I get mine from Three Rivers online. The adhesion is not as durable as glue.
If you are having trouble with those mini tubes I'm not surprised. At the shop we stopped ordering them because 90% of the time the glue as set up enough in the tube that it could not be used. Just old stuff I guess. I've had several bottles of the blue top Gorilla glue in the large squeeze bottles used over a period of several months with no issues. I dont store them in the freezer.
