Yep. The Kid had that happen using Shwackers and the Buck piled up at 54 yards. Give him a few hours. Last thing you want to do is push him into hells half acre.

Probably would not be a blood trail at first with a high shoulder hit and no pass through. Sometimes it is just better to leave the area quitely and let nature take her course. I almost lost a single lung hit doe one day by checking the blood trail as she was laid up in thick brush nearby and jumped and ran. Took me several hours of hard tracking to finally put another arrow into her in her second bed.

It has been 6 hours now. We should be hearing what happened soon. I want to see a picture of a very nice buck found where he last saw it go in the brush. :D

I would give him at minimum 6 hours. No reason to rush it. I have seen deer hit in the shoulder go 50 yards and some were never found.

Always use a dog to find wounded deer.
It can die from bleeding even without hitting the lung.
Might take overnight. At that temp the meat should be good.
If you're in ON not too far from GTA - let me know (I have dogs), but sounds like you're in the US.

Well went out 6 hours after the crap snuck in found my arrow an where I last saw him I notice buzzards up in the trees so I thought no doubt he's there dead so I slowly followed blood an all of a sudden the he jumps up not 15 feet away an runs off an I'm standing there beside myself I found the arrow it had 5 to 6 inches of blood on it Defiantly a strange ordeal he only went maybe 10 yards after I last saw him
