O\T Lest we forget
A big thanks to all of the Vets and your families out there for doing what most would not do.
If it wasn't for you we would not be worrying about bows and arrows. We would probably not be here and if we were we would be living in hell.
Jeff

A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Re: O\T Lest we forget
I served in the US Army n the USN. I also want to extend my thanks n gratitude to all Veterans. I also feel i want to tell jus abit about a Naval Vet. my Father. Served jus over 20 yrs active n retired then served in the Fleet Reserve. H L Hall joined the Navy in 1939 when Hitler made his move on Countrys in Europe. He had 6 other brothers n 3 others joined the Navy in 1940. H L fought Naval battles in the Atlantic while he was on the Battle-Wagon USS Washington. Then when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor he tranferred to the Pacific Fleet onto the USS Wasp. He was in every major Naval Battle in the Pacific, had 3 ships to be hit n sunk while he was on them. Medals yes he had many but many many others during that War did too. They all gave all they had for the USA n the free World n still do!
Re: O\T Lest we forget
I served 6 years in the Army Reserves which meant that I spent six months in active duty training and six years of weekends and two week summer tours. We were never called up so my service didn't amount to much. My father was a real soldier. He came ashore at Normandy shortly after D day and served in combat for the duration of the war. He won 5 Bronze stars and fought all of the way into Germany. Since he was still single he stayed to occupy Germany for a while after peace was declared (married men with long service in combat went home first). Yesterday I placed a flag on his grave. I am in awe of him and the many men and women who have served the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and all of the free countries in the world so bravely so often!

Yes, it is good that we have a day to reflect on those that are serving and have served, something that we should be thankful for every day.

....I stop and thank each Vet that I meet throughout the year...I find the interaction especially poignant when I thank an older WW2 Vet wearing a hat with all the insignia's etc on it...they just don't expect a "youngster " to stop and say thank you...it brings a twinkle to their eye...and yes sometimes a tear!
Thank You all Veterans for your service to our great country and keeping us safe!

Re: O\T Lest we forget
My dad joined the RCAF in 1938 when he saw the war was imminent. He was 19 at the time.
He flew out of Gander Nfld on submarine patrol over the North Atlantic as a flight mechanic from 1939 till the end of 1941. They used open observation decks on the planes.
Then he flew on reconnaissance out of Britain.
His planes got shot but never downed. Much luckier than many comrads of the time.
Thanks to all of you who serve(d) to keep us free.
