Wish this story was more... dramatic/cool/exciting... I got off work and went and picked up my two little ones. Momma had called to let me know she was working a little late, and the kids passed out in the car on the way home so I went in and grabbed the Grizzly. Not to quote Hank Williams Jr. but... I live back in the woods you see, just the woman and the kids and the dogs and me, so I eased around back of the house where the feeder is to have a quick look and as I round the yard edge where the green house is a pair of mid sized does come bounding into line of sight like they had just finished off the corn and were headed out. The leader was 20 yards quartering away so I propped up and let it fly and put a good shot on her. She booked it South then circled back and dropped dead about 20 yards from where I shot her. I had been out several times this season and passed up a few shots due to time constraints for processing, so I finally gave in and changed out my stock string for the Vixenmaster special I got from Mike. So props to him for the true shooting and just for the record the rest of the setup is stock stuff, Grizzly, Diablos, BoltCutters. Honestly looking back I hate that this was my first CB kill but it's meat for the grinder either way. The Grizz is a little slow and caught shoulder on the back side so I didn't get a full pass through and the nag broke my arrow off when she fell. I found half on the ground and half in the chest when I opened her up. I took the pics after I got the kids to bed and dragged her up from the field. For the record, probably want to turn off the head lamp if you're gonna take selfies with your spoils, doh! Can't wait for the next one and hopefully it will be more exciting. Even still, this was much more up close and personal than gun hunting and to see that shot through the scope and know that all that time on the bag was paying off... to hear that sound that sounds like nothing else when you know you hit the mark... pretty cool.
