Suggestion for a cheap crossbow
Well, I had saved up $275 and planned to buy my son a Horton Yukon SL kit for Christmas ( actually for my son wife & myself for a family activity) but after reading up on crossbows here on the forum and other places on the net I decided we needed an Excalibur Exocet. I just need to buy one of the "cheap" ones so we can shoot in the yard until I can save up the extra funds. So what is the least expensive Xbow that wouldn't be a waste of money? BTW, the cheap one would be for just backyard shooting while the Excalibur would be backyard and hunting. TIA!
The problem with cheap crossbows is that you can run into too many problems with them tha may discourage your wife and son from further use of a xbow. Sloppy or too heavy a trigger, accuracy problems, string and pulley breakage. Alot can go wrong with them, my first Barnett fell apart after I had it for 6 months almost made me go back to verts except I found a Wolverine the next week. There are a lot of xbows on ebay if you want to look, you may even find a good xbow at a cheap price.

You get EXACTLY what you pay for..
A cheap crossbow won't give you near as much fun as a quality one will.
AND if you ever want to sell it you stand a LOT better chance of getting a good percentage of your money back with a quality crosbow - that would be an Excalibur..

I think you are right. I will just hold off and keep adding to the $275 I have put aside and get the best instead of wasting part of it. And until then I will just keep asking dumb newbie questions Thanks....william
