Quiver on/off?

Post by ThunderXB »

I am just getting my first Xbow, the Bulldog 400 and I am still pretty green on the whole Xbow thing.

What do most of you do regarding the bow mounted quiver?

Do you leave it on, take it off, never use it.

Take the mount bracket off entirely or leave it on?

Shoot with it, without it?

Thanks for the feedback.

Great thread!

Me personally, I target shoot freehand almost exclusively, so I took the quiver and bracket off within the first few days and use a short tube archery hip holster (? Don't know the proper name ?) on my belt. In it I carry arrow lube, threaded bolt removal tool, stringing aid, and rope cocker. As far as having a repeatable consistent shooting routine from one shot to the next this set up gives me more consistent results at my practice range and 3D competitions.

If I went hunting I think I would put the quiver back on for practicality.

Congrats on a bad-ass bow, I'm curious what other guys prefer for their set-up...

People complain about excal scopes n arrows n stuff on the forum but you never hear a gripe about their quivers i think they are great. The thumb nut principal is tops theres sometimes a tad of play but its not an issue. I use my quiver going to stand then wen i hang my small backpack in the treehook i put the quiver in the slightly open backpack within easy reach.

I don't shoot with my quiver on . just use it for carrying my arrows to my hunting spot and remove it while waiting for deer or what ever. don't have it on when I practice either. I also use a Munch top mount so it dose not hit my back whet I carry my bow over the shoulder. JMO

I hunt Mule Deer and Elk, and seem to be pretty much " on the go ".... I have changed both my excaliburs to camo Munch Mounts which use the Excal. factory quivers but locate them above and parallel to the rail. I find it rides much better and does not dig into my back or shoulder while almost constantly using a should sling :D

I never take it off while hunting, or roving my 3D range, but do while shooting from my bench rest.

I hunt mostly from a tree stand.stock quiver is on only when walking to and from.i just hang it from a hook when hunting, and lay the bow across the rail.sometimes I get to use the rail to make the shot and the quiver would be in the way.might be trying the top mount in the future.whatever you decide make sure that's the way you practice.

I find that I really dislike the stock positioning of the quiver. Even while walking I find that when adjusting hand position I'm always rubbing against the arrows in the quiver, usually right where the fletching is. Also as stated above, the quiver hits your back if using the sling to carry. I also switched to a munch mount, quality work and a great guy to deal with. With the quiver above the rail it isn't in the way at all and I just leave it on for my entire hunt. I have zero complaints about the Excalibur quiver itself! :D

Always took quiver off while in the tree however since adding a video camera to stock I've taken the whole assembly off.

Another option...
I use an over the shoulder carry bag. I took the quiver receiver (female) and attached the receiver to the carry strap using the hardware used to attach to the bow. Two Small hole through the strap attach the receiver and your good. Arrows/quiver are on my backside easy carry. Bow is clean of quiver bracket, can be done with fanny pack also.
