Head to Head MICRO 335 vs MICRO 355 chrony

Post by janesy »

Both bows would be 2016 models with new style risers

Head to Head result taken from a Shooting Chrony Beta, setup with lights, indoors, 3 feet from stirrup. Also for the sake of consistency, the same point of aim, the same NEW quill arrow, and the same 2 field points were used. As well the BH was at one string width from the bumpers. Average of 3 shots at least for all configurations.
Three strings were used, stock micro grey string. Brand "X" Flemish, and Brand "Y" Flemish from a reputable sources on this site(no names, not what this is about), all strings have been broken in and fired 30-50 times. No more science, here's the numbers.

MICRO 335

stock string.
350Gr.= 331.6fps
400Gr.= 313.2fps

Brand "X" string
350Gr.=324fps
400Gr.=308.8fps

Brand "Y" string
350Gr.=327.8fps
400Gr.=310.7fps

MICRO 355

Stock String
350Gr.=344.7fps
400Gr.=326.5fps

Brand "X" string
350Gr.=339.9fps.
400Gr.=322fps

Brand "Y" String
350Gr.=342.3fps
400Gr.=324.8fps

So after all that, I swapped the 335 riser to the 355 mainframe using the stock string. And it shot 347.4. so safe to say that the limbs on the 355 are not weak, or at least that weak compared to another set.

As well, with the fastest string on both bows, my Big John hunting arrows, weighing 389.9 Grains left at 316.6 and 328.4 fps from both 335 and 355. So I'll let you decide , is the 355 really worth the ~12fps?(I still think so for some strange reason) I will say this, after all that shooting... My back likes the 335 more.

Thanks for the info. I shoot a 335 1st generation and use 125 grain Spitfire Max and the factory arrows 16.5 Quills. I also bought 3 arrows Quills with lumenok. Not sure what what total weight would be but I have had no problems. I really enjoy hunting with the 335.

Anyone else with a micro 355 have any numbers?

looks like i need to rethink my next purchase.
Contrary to Anthonys assumptions my micro 335 shoots real close to those 355 stats.

Paul.... you may well have talked me into a 380 :shock:

After adjusting brace height on a few of the setups, it does appear that 3/16 to 1/4" would provide an additional FPS consistently. But that's really neither here not there.

Looks like the GEN I is clearly the winner. Anyone want to send me their Gen I riser to see what it does on a GENII rail?

Those are Interesting Gen II numbers to ponder. My Gen I riser and paired with a JKrug custom mainframe spits out a 375 grain arrow at a repeatable 354-355 fps through my Competitive Edge Dynamics Cronograph. A Boo Force 10 string was used.

The same 375 gr. arrow out of my Matrix 380 saw 362 fps.

I wouldn't get too worked up over a few fps. Plus there are too many variables until wee see a larger group of results.

Here is an interesting update for anyone that cares. I swapped out he limbs on my 355 last night. Noticed immediately that it is hard to cock now. Tonight I just fired a consistent round of shot at 365fps. 366(first shot), 364.7, 365.1, 364.8. and continuing. So with a limb swap I just gained 20-21 fps

So the interesting part is that the last Limbs were bith marked 76, these ones 70 and 69.5. so there ya go , the numbers don't amount to a hill of beans .

Exactly the same setup, same arrow, same stock string, same field point. The rest, the target, the Chrony has not moved since last week.

The real problem now is that my handmade bag doesn't cut it now, the last couple arrow poked holes in the drywall after passing through the bag. :lol:
