any one ever been attacked by a c2 crank?

Post by foxhunter »

just thought I would post this so others may benefit from my mistakes. cocked my 405 to do some Chrono graphing, about the 15th shot I saw the trigger move back which is what happens when the bow is cocked. my first mistake was not connecting the rearward movement with the audible click of the trigger locking. when I released the crank the handle got away from me and whacked my thumb and index finger. thought they were broken. thank goodness for the anti dry fire, which stopped the crank handle from turning. finger and thumb are ok just a little sore.
be careful, grip the handle tight every time you release the crank.

Yup. I have a small scar on my right thumb where the handle caught me last year when it began to free spin...I thought it had latched but it wasn't. I never used it again..

....ok since we are playing true confessions....yes I have.... Last week....didn't have the screw fully engaged on the stock as I was cranking Fulmine Grande.... So I begin cranking away... The unit comes flying off and hits the eye piece of the brand new crossbones....in addition to scratching the scope I put a slight dent in the eyepiece which is now preventing the installation of the Leupold Alumina eyepiece cap  ....

Yes! Last year my grand daughter was home in Ms, for break from Ms, State and wanted to use my Ibex in the stand with her dad, i showed her a couple times how to use the C2-crank, and along with dad, first couple try's no problem. And then she miss placed the pawl and all hell broke loose. the handle hit her wrist at least twice knocking the bow completely out of her hands, she had to sit down because of the pain and all she was worried about was my bow... Dad took her to the vet and i was sick to my stomach ... talk about an awful site to see.. she fractured a bone on her forearm and came home with a partial cast. But she is hard core.. all 98 pounds. That she still dropped a nice sow with the help of dads M-380 that same night.. I also have never used the crank again..

I got over zealous and must have cranked the handle too much and broke the C2 string or the hooks broke not sure what was first. Dry fire caught the string but it made a heck of a noise. I will only use the C2 for the cocking the stringer from now on.
