Broken limb tip Matrix 380 blackout

Post by Troubleshooter »

Where i was afraid for (after all the stories) is happened today.

I was shooting my Matrix 380 this day and broke the left limb tip on the third shot. In total my bow has shooting between 500 and 1000 times and is about 2 years old.

I bought it in Holland in a store. Now i wonder: must i contact the store in Holland or directly to excalibur itself? I presume there is garanty on this?

A few months ago i asked a question about the size of the loop of the string, in combination with having limb tips problems. I did get very different answers on that: http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2 ... 80#p617080

I presume that if this is te case (wide loop is causing this) that Excalibur itself would give a warning for this.

Thanks allready for your help and information!

Yep! But try the store where you bought it from first.

Yes follow Bio's advice and contact the store first. They may have replacement limbs in stock. Otherwise Excalibur will have to ship overseas to replace. They will take excellent care of you, but it's the timing issue

If the loops are too long, they apply too much pressure on the edges of the loop flange of the limb tip and will virtually peal the flange off. If the tip breaks, the limb wedges itself in through the loop, causing the loop to enlarge even more. If the loop is too big or if limb tip broke, you must not reuse the string.

Sorry to hear about the limb tip break. If your dealer can't look after you please contact us directly. Regarding limb tip failures, limb tips typically fail due to low brace height, poorly seated arrow or it can be just a faulty tip. The #1 model for tip failure is the early Matrix 355 which coincidentally does not have the ADF as standard equipment, so you can make your own deduction there. :D

Thank you for your information!
I heard many different stories / opinions about this.
I wonder why doesn't Excalibur give a warning for this, or did they?

Also: the original matrix string stretches very much and very fast, so in fact the bow needs another string maybe every year, while the string itself is still in a very good shape.

Thank you very much for your reaction!

I was aware of the brace height and the arrow was placed the right way, so this wasn't the problem.

The store i bought it from has no replacements.

I allready have send a mail to excalibur! ...And i just saw you send me a mail to my mail address. Thanks!

Maybe it is a good idea to post some (2) photos of it:

This is the left limb, now without the limb-tip.

This is the right limb of the crossbow at the moment. Is this loop allready to wide? (The loop at the left side, where it went wrong - is the same size.)

Is that the only string that was on the bow? The loop certainly does not look too long/big.

Maybe it was a bad glue job. The tips are glued on.
