hey all.. i am not in the market for a new excalibur yet, but i am keeping eyes open for a good deal incase something pops up before that time... i heard someone say you can sometimes get a deal on amazon... but i normally like to see , feel and hold something before i purchase it, never really trusted getting something online as you just never know.. has anyone else bought a crossbow from there?? any reviews?? thanks

I suggest keeping an eye on the trading post right here. I have bought bows and numerous things from long standing, respected forum members and have only had positive experiences. As for Amazon, just check who the seller is and avoid anything from China. If Amazon is the seller returns are easy in the first thirty days. Personally, with a purchase as large as a bow I prefer buying from a small shop/Ma & Pa outfit.

What am I missing here? If you buy an Excalibur from Amazon, Ebay or wherever I thought that the lifetime warranty was still valid. Why would you have to be concerned about buying one online?

oh for sure, i plan to.. i don't think i would buy anything from amazon or ebay or anything.. nothing against them , i just have trust issues...lol.. i normally buy either from forum members or from a small family operated archery shop close to me.. i was just curious about amazon and stuff because some prices seem so good yet some are unrealistic ( someone is selling matrix 380's for over $3000... lol)...

My reference wasn't regarding the Excalibur warranty but rather unscrupulous sellers or returning merchandise issues. I've made purchases on Amazon that turned out to be straight from China. When they weren't as described or didn't meet my expectations they would honor the return because of Amazon however I had to pay the return shipping which was more than the full refund for the product. I don't really deal with eBay so I can't comment on them.

I just bought my nephew an Excalibur Grizzly(brand new) off Ebay last month for $496 with free shipping. Bow was almost completely assembled when delivered. All he had to do was attach the front bow section to the rail. Scope was already mounted. Bow came with a Dead Zone Scope,4 arrows,quiver, rope cocker and 4 field points. First shot from the bow was just under 2 inches right of the bulls eyes at 20 yards. Was very happy with the purchase. Bow was registered on line through Excalibur website with no problems.

I would not hesitate to buy from eBay or Amazon using Paypal to pay. I have bought literally hundreds of items though them pretty much problem free. I have been shafted twice over the years and both times had a full refund through Paypal within a few days.

Of course you could register the bow through Excalibur website ,, During registration no serial number is required ... so way to verify ....

I always seem to find that the prices on Amazon for excals is way out of wack!! They seem very expensive. I've seen better deals on eBay!! If the price was right I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Amazon though. I've bought lots of other stuff there and never had an issue!

I bought a couple brand new excaliburs on amazon both came from a regular excaliber dealer. Brand new in a box. No problems at all

i would prefer to support local businesses but the local sportshop doesn't have room for much stock so you have to order almost everything and then the price is generally much higher and my last 2 orders were messed up. i'm 55 miles from the cabela's etc of the world and i don't want to make that drive. i do order online from cabela's when the price is right but amazon/ebay prices are usually better. anyway, i bought 2 excals from ebay and couldn't be happier. as far as holding the bow before buying, the big stores have a ton of xbows hanging but no one had the 335 i ended up buying. there's a lot of xbows being made and even those huge stores(the ones where u need a spotting scope to see the goat mounts up at the ceiling) don't stock them all.

I picked my Micro 335 with 4 arrows, quiver,scope and cocking aid from Ebay and I got a real good deal. It was new in the box plus I got another half dozen arrows and the octane case plus free shipping to my door for $925 bucks. In the past I also got a real good deal when I purchased my Vortex and the right stuff kit. Also from Ebay. Just keep your eye on the site.

I wouldn't buy anything from Amazon for multiple reasons. First, they sell products (and do so directly rather than through an independent seller) that the manufactures claim they never sold to Amazon. Yes, they could buy from distributors but I've seen prices on Amazon below distributor/wholesaler pricing. That screams out Chinese fake. And I've also read industry articles that spoke to fakes being sold on those marketplaces. Second, the CEO of Amazon is a left wing gun controller. There is no way I'm supporting that.

I am open to buying off eBay but only through legitimate businesses that are on there. For example I've seen authorized Excalibur dealers place Excalibur products on eBay, probably to clear out stock. But I've also seen obvious fakes on eBay.

And one last thing about the fakes. You won't always be able to spot them by appearance or images alone. Most of the times the package is a direct copy and the product looks like the original. The difference comes in the tolerances and quality of the materials. In a trade magazine I read how a broadhead manufacturer got a return for a defective product and upon initial inspection the head looked legit. Only when they tested the alloys in the blades did they find that it was a fake. So I'm extremely surprised that a manufacturer would tell someone (as was claimed on another thread) that a broadhead was their product based on an image alone. Maybe they said it looks like it, but looks can be deceiving.
