Killer Katana

Post by Big John »

Time to post about my season with Black Lightning!
My All Black Katana 385.
This Bow has been amazing since I took it home. The only
things I added were Alphashox, Leupold VXR Scope, and my Custom Arrows. Once sighted in, back in the Spring, it hasn't lost perfect zero yet. Super quiet, smooth as glass, balanced perfectly, and loves to Kill things! This small, light, accurate speed bow is Beauty! The Two Deer I took this year had no idea, even after the shot, what happened!
Except they were bleeding badly!!! I have used this Bow all year for hunting. The only thing I didn't get was my Big Bear at my Bear Camp! But Black Lightning was ready!
I have no problem recommending this Bow to anyone. Especially since it is very easy to Draw!!! For those with very bad backs (Me) and legs, this Bow is for you! And for anyone else who wants a speed bow that's made to track and kill all by themselves ( ok, maybe not) but close. The Katana is a real deal killing machine. And not one mishap or issue at all!!! This after hundreds of shots and dozens of hunts and travel.

Well, till next time everyone:

Good to hear from you, John. I got to shoot John's Katana at his bear camp and it's a sweet shooter for sure - very easy drawing and quiet.

They get their 385fps rating with a 400gn arrow out of that Katana, don't they? Impressive speed either way. Great review

Was always under the impression they were rated with a 350 gr. arrow ? 385 fps with a 400 gr. ? Would get my attention. :D

Sounds good John. I have my heart set on a suppressor for 2017 but am waiting to see what's at the ATA first... :)

I was checking out that bow. What did you like, and did-like about it? What arrow/nock combination did you use. I noticed that flat nocks cannot be used on this bow. Has to be half moon or Omni/universal nock. Thanks. J.

Swamp Donkey just posted a picture of his Katana 385 shooting a 398 grain arrow and the chrono was at 369 fps so I do not think they used a 400 grain arrow for their test. Think I read 370 grain was used.
He posted on CT forum....

To be honest i like the offspring better than my micro .l put a micro stock on it . All the controls are just the same as a excal matrix .very quiet and narrow in a blind . The bow is very dependable l bought it because of the excal like parts used on it .
