scope rings
Handling the stock scope rings that came with my 350LE doesn't have me feeling good about them. Any advice on which rings to upgrade with ? Thanks all.

Re: scope rings
Leupold rifleman rings. They are nice rings, and wont break the bank. I know the feeling about the factory rings.

Re: scope rings
my vote goes to the Burris zee rings, all steel with torx type screws.
steel screws into aluminum threads are not a good combination....just my opinion

Re: scope rings
I have an XB30 scope and am very happy with the Vortex Viper scope rings, the 30mm low; part # VPR - 30L.
I prefer the lowest scope mount position I can get on all my rifles as well as my Xbow. That way I can keep my head tight to the stock when shooting; never been a fan of cheek pieces to elevate head in line with scope.

Re: scope rings
The Weaver 1" Lever-Lok quick release rings I originally bought for my muzzle loader are worlds better than the aluminum Excalibur rings. (Torx screws for one) And only $36.45 USD.

Re: scope rings
Use Leupold Rifleman rings with confidence. The idea that a steel fastener is somehow detrimental to an aluminum ring is a non factor here because you're not torquing the screw down enough to strip the tapped hole and I haven't seen galvanic bonding.
Keep in mind guys, we are shooting crossbows here, not .300 WIN mags. I have never had an issue ever and they are about 1/2 the weight of a steel ring. If using something twice as heavy appeals to you, I suggest topping it off your bow with a Hawke scope

Re: scope rings
just curious here...could this aluminum threads and steel screws have anything to do with all the comments about crossbow screws loosening up?racking up points wrote:rein1 wrote:X2 ,, Steel screws and aluminum threads aren't a reliable comboDeaf jeff wrote:my vote goes to the Burris zee rings, all steel with torx type screws.

Re: scope rings
Leupold PRW-S never let me down. pick up a wheeler torque wrench and youll never have issues stripping threads.with scope rings steel screws into aluminum only need like 12-15 inch pounds. steel to steel 17-25inch pounds depending on ring brand and suggested manufacturer specs.not a big fan of loctite. rather run the screws though once to clean up the treads and use a drop of oil or string wax. that will help you get proper torque. coating the screw helps with slowing the galvanic process.

Re: scope rings
I'll be putting a Hawke XB 1 on my bow. I have a Munch Mount on it. Would I be OK with medium mounts or should I go with low mounts ? Just worried the low ones will not have enough clearance.

Re: scope rings
I have a number of different rings on different bows. I'm very impressed with both the Burris Signature Zee Rings and the Vortex Rings. I also quite like my Monstrum Tactical Cantilevered Rings with the picatinny top for attaching my laser sight which works very well.
