New Bulldog with Hawke XB 30 Scope-Fitment ?

Post by GROOTSKY »

I recently updated from my Axiom to a new Bulldog 380, and since I'm going this far I'm considering updating the scope as well. I have narrowed it down to the Hawke XB 30.

Will this scope mount directly into the stock rings as they are both 33mm tubes or am I going to have eye relief issues with the Hawke? I don't have access to a Hawke scope or any dealers nearby as I live in northern Canada so I'm trying to avoid any issues ahead of time.

Thanks

As long as your existing pair of rings are for a 30 mm scope they should work on your XB30 just fine.... I have two bows set up with XB30's and pretty sure your gonna' be happy !.... I sure am.

It depends on your eyedea of eye relief. I used offset rings to move my Hawke Pro forward on my 400BD.

I have the XB 30 Pro on my Bulldog 400 and use the Excalibur butt extender to get better eye relief. The only problem is it only comes in black.

Did you have eye relief issues with the stock scope as well or is it a fitment difference with the XB 30? Thanks

I don't think the issue was if the scope would fit, Its if there's enough movement back and fourth to get his eye relief set ...

As you can see from NEPA's picture, he's maxed out on forward adjustment of the scope and the eyepiece looks to be hanging pret-near over forward edge of the cheekpiece.

My BD400 scope rail is too aft for a good fit for me. I'm going to get offset rings to move the scope forward.

FYI the Vortex 30 mil offset raises scope too high. Weaver makes a 30 mil low offset. If you can find Millett on shelf someplace they make low, medium 30 mil offset, they are no longer made.

Does Hawke offer any 30mm offset mounts in the medium or low version? I'm thinking that the high mounts may be too tall to properly use the cheek piece

Can't comment on the offset mounts, I do have the Hawke high mounts on two bows with cheek pieces and no issues...

Here is a picture I found today. I have seen this done before. Just showing different options. It is not my bow, nor do I know the person who posted it. Check out how he has that Hawke XB 30 PRO mounted.
