Safety on or off?

Safety on or off?
Can somebody please tell me, When I am cocking back my crossbow to load the bolt for a morning hunt, do I leave the safety on when pulling the string back to fully cocked , or safety off, load an arrow(still safety off!?) then engage the safety after fully loaded???..........sonny
Re: Safety on or off?
I engage the safety as soon as it is cocked and before loading an arrow. If using my climbing stand, i cock the bow and set the safety, then insert the arrow after hoisting the bow up LAST! I bring up my backpack, and secure it, set my bow holder up, then bring the crossbow up.
It’s not the way you rock, it’s the way that you roll!

String won't engage with the safety on as soon as the string engages you will hear a click that is the tangs engaging put the safety on just like a gun . Now you can slide the arrow on I make it a habit to check the safety many times when I am hunting just to be sure it is on .

Re: Safety on or off?
1. Cock bow
2. Engage safety
3. Remove the hooks of the cocking aid from the string
4. Load arrow
***This is the process every time, 100% of the time, no matter what. The safety only comes off to pull the trigger. That's my routine....always.

Re: Safety on or off?
As soon as the bow is cocked I engage the safety, by putting an arrow in and then engaging the safety bad things could possibly happen if somehow the bow accidentally fired with your hand in front of the string while loading the arrow with the safety off!
Re: Safety on or off?

Re: Safety on or off?
like stated about
make it a habit - as soon as you cock it - engage safety
the more times you do this - it will just be normal conditioning - so to speak
even during practice shots while sighting in etc.

Re: Safety on or off?
When I cock my Excals the safety is snapped on before the cocking rope is removed from the string. It becomes second nature to do so.
