Length of Excalibur ownership?

Post by SEW »

How long have you owned your Excalibur xbow(s)? How long to you plan to own it/those?

Me: M380 (5 yrs), M405 (4 yrs) , BD400 (2-3 yrs), M405 used (<1 yr). Don’t plan to sell any, ever. Not planning on any more either unless a very powerful, beanfield magnum model is introduced, like a 300# Equinox.

There is less activity on the Excalibur board than general xbow boards. Why? Likely, because of lack of issues, greater, long-term satisfaction, etc. Just how many times can you say, “it’ll consistently shoot 1’ groups @ 60 or 80 yards”? Etc. I shoot my Excal’s at least weekly, but they’re the same ol Excal’s. Same great results. Why change? I’m so glad I’m off the compound xbow merry go round that I was on for nearly 30 years.

Micro 355 with the crank, I see nothing better to replace this model. Longest ownership before this is my Matrix 355, 3 years now.

My ExoMax is 11 years old and works just as well as it did when I bought it. I bought a Micro 335 a few seasons back and use it exclusively now. My daughter uses the ExoMax with a crank and continues to fill tags with it. Length of ownership = Forever.

Equinox - 2008 vintage
Vixen - 2012 (RIP...cannibalized to make my M410 and Paulaboutform’s Frankenbow)
M380 - 2012 (RIP...cannibalized to make the M410)
M330 - 2013 (neutered down to a 310 with riser swap)
M410 - 2014 (this bow has so much into it that I’ll never sell it. It used to be a full camo mainframe in RT Xtra, but now it sports a black, anodized and polished MF, blackout limbs and a custom laminate stock)
Scorpyd DS - 2017 (yeah...I got one too but it hasn’t seen the woods yet :D, too much depth up front means the depth players don’t get much playing time)

Will keep my Phoenix (2009) & my 110/90lb custom Vixen (2008 and customized for indoor target in 2012). Couple of others will/may be sold. Likely sell 4 or 5 Hoyt compound bows as well. Just a matter of when. Shooting hobby more turned to pellet guns and Airsoft spring pistols the past two years since I broke my shoulder playing hockey. Pellet guns got me back into Powerburners that sat in a closet unused for ten years. So I bought a couple new dream guns I always wanted through the years as one being a 22-250. :) :)

I've had my Phoenix, my first, for seven years problem Free. A real freezer filler. My Exocet to 5 years. ( My two favorites).
And recently Matrix 350SE and Matrix 330. Love them all. But don't plan or see a reason to upgrade anytime soon. Maybe never. Completely happy with the older models. I like what has proven itself. And I'm not a tinkerer.

Got my Matrix 355 6 yrs. ago. First crossbow I owned. I had used my Grandson's barnett crossbow thru archery, then ordered my Excalibur. My hunting buddy had bought one the year before, & in the past year had a cousin & son buy a Excalibur.

I’ve had my exomax now for 12 or 13 years. It still performs flawlessly. I’ll have it till the day I die.
