Thinking about a new ladder stand

Post by Boo »

Any opinions? I really like the Melennium ladder stands for their back rest but they are pretty heavy! But that's my 2 prerequisites, a good back rest with a bit of a angle to it and not crazy heavy.

Thanks Dan, it appears that they do not make that ladder stand anymore.

Had very good use with the Outpost from Dick’s or Field and a Stream. Very reasonable price. Comfortable. Easy to install. Best to have a helper.

Just ordered a x-stand onyx from dick's. they had 25% off and free shipping ($5 oversize shipping charge). didn't really find any decent deals anywhere else.

Some of those that sell them have models all set up so you can look them over. Here in NE Oklahoma the Academy Sports stores have a very nice display outside with several of them all set up. Includes some Tripod stands. This is an excellent way to give them a good going over before buying.

A little heavy but comfortable as hell:

8 foot by 8 foot cedar deck that is 14 feet in the air topped with a heated 6 foot by 6 foot blind. Complete with a rear swing out gantry to lift coolers or if necessary those unable to climb the ladder. Killed a buck this year during the rifle hunt out of that palace.

Not exactly the same but the structure inside the trees is almost identical to this one (Cross braced cedar 4x4s on concrete piers with 2x6 joists):

I will second this. The Field and Stream Lookout Deluxe from Dick's (I have the 16 footer) is by far the best ladder stand I have ever used. A full platform with a fold up seat and they are on sale for around $80 right now. I had a 2 person ladder that I took down and replaced with this one as this one is so much better.
