Sure there are good deals out there. Woodys, Amazon, etc. I guess I am thinking of the past, to much. It has been 10yrs., since I bought my Exocett. Back then, you could of bought 2 of the flagship bows, and still would have not paid as much as the some of the Bows offered today.

I actually like Excaliber's price point compared to the compound xbows out there. When you see a Tenpoint or Ravin sell for over 2000 the prices here don't worry me. I looked at the price of replacement strings for those bows- ouch compared to recurves. Then the rate at the local bow shop is 15-20 per hour to do the work. I will stick with Excalibur not only for the xbows they offer, but their prices, and of course warranty. When I read the initial post I thought of the deal I just made on ebay to sell my Mathews SBXT. I bought it in 06 for 750.00 and sold it for a little over half that. Now a new Mathews is 1200; prices have increased but so has costs to produce it. I have the M405 but after shooting an Assassin I know the 405 won't see much stand time this up coming year even though the 405 will never become outdated

I’m one that likes the bells and whistles. The built in crank on the assassin was what pushed me over the edge on spending money on another bow.
I started crossbow hunting after an injury from a car wreck, made a mess of my neck and caused me nerve damage that runs down my dominant arm. My first purchases were TenPoints and always their flagship models so, I was used to paying over $2k. Had one fall off my 4 wheeler and cams bust to pieces, ruining the rest of my season. So, I looked for a more simple bow and my first recurve. I bought a Matrix 380 the first year they was available but unfortunately the cocking of it has gotten too much for me. Not sure if it’s the nerve damage or I’m just getting older and weaker.
But I’ve always dreaded carrying in a separate cocker and really like the built in on my assassin (it’s what drew me to Tenpoint all those years ago) yeah $1800 is a lot of money but it’s still cheaper than most top end bows that I still don’t think come close to an Excalibur in quality and simplicity.

That's what I said 10 years ago when I bought my beast. Now? It's retired.
