To me it's "the simpler the better". Whatever vibration my bow makes doesn't effect my shots and the noise doesn't seem to cost me any deer. The only gadget that ever hangs from my bows is a quiver and I remove that when I'm in a stand.

Well, I got these things in today. I was surprised that both of them together including set screws only weigh 2 1/4 ounces. Can’t really get anymore minimalistic than that and still be functional.

I might try them tomorrow.

I shot the bow today with new string and bumpers.

A couple of things, This new string which some say is “shortened” will not sit any closer than 5/8” from the bumper with no twist (for now).

Even at that great distance the string actually flexes that far to hit the bumpers, this surprised me.

There is no handling difference weight wise. I can tell more of a thud -vs- the thong sound. Was it worth the $25, probably. Even if it just changes the tone and reduces vibration.

The "new" strings are being manufactured to fit the "micro riser" equipt Bulldog matrix series. They utilize a slightly shorter string due to the swept angle and subsequently higher brace height, compared to the older matrix riser based bows. It's very common to find that the strings now are on the short side. They will stretch down after time, and will ultimately land around 3/8 to 1/4 off the bumpers, so has been reported.
It's harmless and actually easier on the bows. And less adjusting.

Is the string the same spec material? (As per “Less adjusting”)

Is the higher brace height slowing the bolt down?

How is it easier on the bow?

Is it wrong for folk to want a string out of the box that will set right where you want it?

Yes same material, Less adjustment because it will take longer to be too short

Is the higher brace height slowing the bolt down?

In theory it is possible, but not enough to worry about.

How is it easier on the bow?

Higher brace height is always easier on the limbs

Is it wrong for folk to want a string out of the box that will set right where you want it?

It's not, but it will stretch out, and it will work perfectly fine. This has been covered many times. Your good to go.

So the string stretch rate is the same, its like a glass half empty -vs full situation. The ONLY thing that takes longer is getting to the brace height of my satisfaction

I see it as taking too long to get it where I want it -vs how nice it was just to put twist in the string to match my brace height.

Its like pouring me a beer half full of suds and telling me I’ll get to the beer eventually.

It does make a difference, I think the shorter string is a bad idea.

I'm just presenting you with the facts. How you choose to interpret them is just fine with me.

I presented facts too.

But certainly it takes longer for the string to reach the point where it needs adjustment when you start so far over factory recommendations on the high end. It could take years to reach my selected height.

So NO, the string ain’t stretching slower, and it ain’t taking longer to get “too short”, I think you meant too long. It takes long enough for it to stretch to proper maximum brace height as recommended by Excalibur’s PDF much less to my chosen height.

I know it ain’t gonna hurt nothing according to the String page but...

I don’t see how thats a good thing, just the facts as you and Excalibur presented them.
Well, buy the correct string next time. Problem solved
Good luck to you.
