Windy but awsome first day of turkey

Had a front come in last nite and was a tad windy this morning. Had 3 big gobblers in at first light l think they actually saw our flashlights this morning they were so close but would not come in. Around 830 l called and in the wind 2 nice gobblers came in . My brother got the first one and this guy was on top of the dead bird stomping it. I was able to cock the matrix 355 for another shot in the crowded dog house blind. The big super freak extremes worked awsome .a great day indeed.

Congratulations Joe. Up here winds were 20-25 mph, gusting up to 35+ mph. No gobbling.

Nice!

I worked a gobbler for over an hour. He would not come in just kept gobbling. That's Turkey hunting! Lol
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Thank god they can’t smell as good as a whitetail or they would only be taken by accident

Congrats on the double harvest a hunt to remember for sure,
Thanks for describing the other birds reaction after the shot, I find that the sound of the x bow does not scatter the birds and have also experienced the other birds acting some times very aggressive towards the harvested bird and other times have had them start to walk away going kee kee for 15 min after the shot as they feed away from the harvested bird.

Congrats on the double !

I have 5 down so far ( 2 rio's and 3 Merriam's) but have had to resort to the boom stick as nobody wants to play and come in close yet, its more ambush right now hopefully they start to chase the call soon !
