Micro 355 Stock Quill/150 gr Field point SPEED?

Post by Stepnoutnb »

Ok so my Bulldog target arrived and I’ll be shooting this weekend. First time shooting a crossbow. When I site in what speed should I set the scope to? I know the bow claims up to 355 FPS but with the 250 gr quills and 150 gr points I’m assuming from what I’ve read and seen on the net the speed should be 335-340 FPS. Is this correct? Let me say I’m not worried about the bow not being 355 FPS. I am more interested in accuracy and consistency.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks

My Micro 355 with a 400gr arrow makes 342fps. But i prefer heavier arrows 425gr and more. But i am just a target shooter. Hunting with a crossbow is not allowed here in germany.

Thank you for the reply. I would be happy with 342fps, again it’s about accuracy for me.

i do believe excals speed ratings are done with a 350 grain total weight arrow but i could be wrong for the micro's.
i am betting accuracy and consistency will be everything you hope for

Thank you for the reply. I guess I'll start the sighting in with the 340 fps on the scope dial. I'll likely never use a chronograph

340 would work, just remember that once you get it sighted in whatever the speed ring says doesn’t mean that’s the actual speed! If you want the actual speed you will need to shoot through a chronograph

I bought a micro 355 last fall and put it through a chrono over the winter. I got 350 FPS with a quill @ 400 gr. And 366 with 100 gr tip(350).

How is you trigger? How would you describe the trigger in respect to creep, travel and how it breaks?

It has a lot of travel before it goes off. I would like a better trigger.

I agree about the trigger but I am amazed at the accuracy. I just ruined a brand new quill tonight
