I was able to get out today and do some shooting with the Bulldog 440 and could not be more pleased with its performance.
My setup is a custom Flemish string and a Nikon Bolt XR scope mounted with low Leupold PRW2 rings. For bolts I am shooting 18.00 long Spynal Tapps from Jerry at SSA assembled using 110 grain brass front inserts, 100 grain field points, plastic nocks and Blazer vanes. Total weight at 407 grains with an FOC of 18.50%. This combination chronographs at 418 feet per second.
I zeroed the crosshairs at 20 yards. At 10 yards using the crosshairs I hit .50 inches high. At 30 yards using the crosshairs I hit 2.00 inches low. At 30 yards using the next reticle on the scope (30 yard pin) I hit 2.00 inches high. At 40 yards using the 30 yard pin I hit 1.00 inches low. At 50 yards using the next reticle (40 yard pin) I am hitting 3.00 inches high. At 60 yards using the 40 yard pin I am hitting dead on at zero.
So my hunting pins will be to use the crosshairs between 5 and 25 yards, the 30 yard pin between 25 and 40 yards and if needed the 40 yard pin between 40 and 60 yards.
At 40 yards with NAP Razor broadheads my point of impact is within one half inch of field points.
I can't wait for November!!!

Re: Shooting The Bulldog 440
Congratulations on you xbow selection! Contrast against the BD400? Can you see a difference in the limbs? If you ever get really bored, I think it would be interesting to swap limbs and chronograph the before and after differences. I understand that the new limbs are much faster.
Re: Shooting The Bulldog 440
My Bulldog 400 never shot as advertised. 386 FPS with factory string and 350 grain bolt was the best I could do. The bulldog 400 with the same 407 grain bolts shoots at 366 FPS which is a delta of 52 FPS to the 440.
