Any Muskie hunters here?

Post by janesy »

As I'm able, I've been trying to broaden my hunting portfolio every chance I get. I love fishing just as much, but the one thing I love because it blurs the lines between the two is Muskie Hunting . Something about how that fish can rise up and seems to stare you down before it decides to tango... Or not haha. I get the same rush when I slam a big girl on a D10 that I do when I take a deer. Still trying to break 50 tho.
Anyone else?

I got hooked on Muskies about 30 years ago.
The addiction was so bad it was all I wanted to do.
Then one day I remembered how good walleye and crappie tasted....

Lake Stclair is loaded with them. I avoid them because I mainly fish for food! Lol

Growing up in New Brunswick we never had muskies. But wait, several years ago a damn broke in Quebec on the head waters of the Saint John river. I think it was 20 years or more. So now we have Muskies. The last 22 years i've worked more OT than I can remember. This December I am going to Semi-Retire. I am going to fish, hunt, garden, reload and shoot. Ive got so many projects I've been putting off it's sick. I have 2 beautiful granddaughters 3 1/2 years and 10 months. I have a Salmon fishing camp. I love sleeping while listening to the rain hit the steel roof. I'm all pumped up about the future. To bad I keep getting all these aches and pains lol.
Here is a link to a you tube channel of a fellow who has been chasing the Muskies in The Saint John river pretty hard. We also have some big stripe Bass.

We have muskie here but not many .my home lake has pike up to 26 lbs . Not big by northern standards but still very exciting for me. Got 2 15lbers and one 20 this weekend long fish with teeth are really cool. I love trolling em up. I can see them on my my raymarine dragonfly and actually catch the fish l see yes it's cool. Good luck in your toothy pursuit. Buy some fish handling gloves they come in handy.most times l never take them out of the water just net em n get the hook out. I have to be on blood thinners from my cardiac incident and they seem to always make me bleed some how either the hook or teeth. Lol.

I guess I got lucky last evening. I took my new musky rod out for a few casts. Hooked a nice 28 in beauty. Not bad from shore on a boardwalk under hwy 45.

I was tossing a small inline spinner. I saw her chasing it about 15 ft away. Wack and the drag starts talking. I yelling at my wife to go get the net from the truck.

Shoulda just took a few pics, as a few minutes of tussling and working her to the end of the dock. One big splash and she's gone.

Kinda glad , as it wasn't an easy place to get her in safely and release easily.

My wife was a little dissapointed , but she did see the first few runs and the rod bending over , of course lots of slashing.

Gotta love it !!

Why do most fisherman refer to them as lady's ?

Muskie Guide up here in NW Ontario. Many fish I can’t remember! Most of the 50+ I do. Eagle lake is my home and where I sling for the big girls. Come on up!

The plus when musky fishing is the other big girls that come along.

She was only 36", but son in law was along and until that point, the biggest fish he had seen was 17" long.
