Will this work
I'm trying to add a little weight to the front of my xx75 2219 camo hunter shafts, will these inserts work for these shafts or is there another way of doing this without having to switch to heavier broadheads.

Re: Will this work
In the past l have added an extra 30 grain insert with the shoulder ground off epoxyed in the 2219 shaft before the real one. You can also add a small beveled screw to the dummy insert for more. I was shooting 53 grains extra with a 30 grain insert and a 125 grain broadhead.
It was a pia making them but they flew really good with the big foc up front.
I too could not find brass inserts . Apparently Horton used to have them at one time.
As said before the zombie with the 110 brass and 100 or 125 point up front blew my alluminum 2219s out of the water in the accuracy dept and durability dept so l abandoned them.

Re: Will this work
Thanks Joe, Are they that much better at hunting distances ( 40 and under )? I've got abunch of these shafts so I'm going to try my experiment, just don't know where to find the componets. The 2 I listed both have different OD's so wasn't sure about them, I believe they are .304 and .305. Was hoping someone on here knew3 more about doing this and where to buy the stuff.

Re: Will this work
You could use heavier B-heads
Re: Will this work
That's what I'm trying to avoid, I have quite a collection on 100 and 125gr Thunderheads.
Re: Will this work
IMO you should call Ethics Archery & talk to Hoss, and he will guide you to the inserts you need to use. I just did for my carbon shafts, and got the .300 static insert in SS with weight range of 100 to 200 grain. Right now testing heads from 200-300 grains, with brass 110 gr. inserts, with total wt. from 528 to 628 total gr. arrow wt., but will be going to the SS inserts.I have seen brass inserts that were bent inside a carbon shaft, and were shot with a compound bows.tcwild wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 11:06 pmI'm trying to add a little weight to the front of my xx75 2219 camo hunter shafts, will these inserts work for these shafts or is there another way of doing this without having to switch to heavier broadheads.

Also going away from mechanical heads to all steel fix heads. Want to make sure if something happens that I can't control, my arrow will still do it's job and kill the animal.

Re: Will this work
Excalibur always sold the 150 grain back in the day with alluminum bolts that got you about 180 up front. In my testing a 55 grain dummy insert and a normal 30 grain insert with a 125 head was even more but l had great flight.
Slick trick used to make a 175 head which l think they were majorly stupid for discontinuing. .That thing flew like a dart on a 2216 and 2219 shaft with a normal 30 grain insert.
If cats right and ethics archery has a heavy 2219 insert please post back .

Re: Will this work
Will do. I emailed him today he's they will work for the ID (.306 ) but not sure about the OD and I don't have a caliper here to check. I believe it is 22/64 what ever that works out to, he's going to see and get ahold of me Monday. Thanks guys

I think this is what you are looking for.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2219-Heavy-Aluminum-Arrow-Inserts-XX75-2219-Arrow-Shafts-Inserts-61-Grains-/192676485153
I shoot 2219 aluminum that I make my self with great results. my procedure is this.
I cut my own shafts with a mini cut off tool from harbor fright.

Then i square both ends of the shaft with this tool , it can be all ready fletched with this tool not true with some other tools.

A am using a standard aluminum nock with 175 gr 4 blade slick tricks and results are wonderful but this head is no longer made but their is a 150 grain offered,
I use a flat plastic nock in the rear that I also use the squaring tool on as well as squaring the front insert .
As a side note I shot Thunder Heads out of my vertical bows for years but found that the short profile design of a head like the slick trick x bow head was more accurate out of the fast x bows but this was before I had the squaring tool .

Re: Will this work
Thanks, I got Hoss all the info today so we will see what tomorrow brings.
Re: Will this work
Never heard much out of Hoss so I got tired of waiting and ordered 2 packs of the 60gr from Ethics. They showed up yesterday and appear that will work fine, the OD fits the 2219 just right. These are in the clearance section so not sure if they are discontinuing them or what? I believe they had 60,100 and 150gr so get them while you can.
Re: Will this work
Greetings. I am trying to figure this out also. I contacted Ethics Archery, and talked to Bruce. (This is the guy you want to talk to. He is in tech support) This is the only inserts available for Aluminum shafts. (2219) .305ID - 60, which you have. 150, and 175 gr. I am building arrows for a 315 Micro, and been wondering which to use... Here is my weights- Shaft: Easton Mag, 16.5", 2219 is between .226/.229 grs. - Insert: 150gr. - Nok: Plastic, 9.6 gr. Lumenok, .28grs. - BH: 100 or 125gr. -Wrap: (about 6/8 grs. - Vanes: (3) @19.2 Grs./ 2' Blazers... Complete Arrow: With 125gr. BH, About a 545/555 gr. Arrow. - With 100gr., BH 520/535 gr. Arrow (all appx.) I hear so many different ways to do this. Some say do not use any weight in the front, for best FOC Others say, must add weight. Let me know how you make out. I am curious as to what the best combo, will work best. As shown, this arrow weight is with the 150gr. Insert... just wanted to share the info., that I have. Good luck, J.tcwild wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 1:44 pmNever heard much out of Hoss so I got tired of waiting and ordered 2 packs of the 60gr from Ethics.
