A QUERY TO THOSE WITH 3 OR MORE EXCALIBURS

Post by amythntr »

.....I often wondered for for those of you that own 3 or more crossbows....do you actually take each and every one into the field during the year or do you maintain your fleet like those who collect fine wines?

....also how many times to you actually hunt with a CB during the year?

....again, I was just wondering.

I have 4 bows . one goes to a young hunter that is just starting to hunt , I let them use it for the season . and the other 3 if I shoot a deer with my 405 or any other I switch bows and so on . I am lucky as far as hunting goes just out of my front porch and I'm in the woods so I like to hunt as much as I can.

Anthony, yes I do take them all out for a hunt or two but I do pick my main one before the season starts. I finally have the three I currently own shooting the same arrows, and broads which makes life a lot easier. Before my heart issues I would bow hunt mostly, (crossbows last few years) but I would try to get in about 20 - 30 hunts. That all depended work, family obligations, and of course weather.

I have 1 Excalibur Micro and the Scorpyd Death stalker 420.

Both see equal action but when I feel the need for speed the Scorpyd gets my attention! Lol

I usually only pick 2 for the year but don't alternate.

I have 3 Excalibur’s and 3 box blinds. They stay in the blinds for the season. Less stuff to carry when playing the wind.

My micro will get most of the love this year because it’s new and I haven’t killed anything with it yet. My bulldog 380 was the new kid last year and I killed an eight point and a doe with it.
Once rifle season comes in I will hunt with a gun on our seasons doe days. Other than that it’s Excalibur’s only. :D

I have killed at least 2 bucks and at least one Turkey with
All of my crossbows except my new Phoenix. I use them like fishing rods l have a bunch of them in my boat for different situations.
I kinda use my vixen for crappy weather and my close shot stands. My 355 has more power for my super freak extremes.
Like my pistols l simply enjoy shooting every one of them. Last Saturday l bought my bench and target's and shot for nearly 2 hours taking a few breaks. Unlike the pistols it costs basically nothing unless you loose a bolt.
I honestly dont really have a favorite but l think the metal ibex just shoots the smoothest of them all.
Hunting and fishing are basically my only hobbies so as long as the Bill's are paid l will keep buying one now and then . Unlike vertical bows these crossbows take up a lot of room they are a pia to store in a small home. Most of them are in the garage.
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix, sapphire, matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.

I have been buying Excalibur crossbows since 1989. In total I've had the opportunity to own a baker's dozen. Of those, I've sold some and traded others. Currently I own six. Lately, I've found that folks are not willing to pay fair market value for them. Considering that they have been bought and paid for, even though I don't use my "older" models, I enjoy watching them "collect dust". On occasion I'll take a shot or two with them. If need be, I know that in a pinch, I have six Excaliburs that I can use and rely on.

.... my take from the responses is as follows... some are collectors but it appears that most of you have more opportunities to shoot and more chances to get out into the field to hunt....hence you have the chance to rotate your CB’s.... unfortunately I have to travel about an hour and a half to hunt and about 40 minutes to shoot....I probably get out between 7-10 times during archery and extended archery... hence my decision to have only 1 Excalibur and the A360 surely fits the bill!
