Ex- Shox Question on Micro 360TD

Post by colouredchameleon »

Just pulled the trigger on a Micro 360TD Pro this past weekend.
All put togeither with the exception of installing the Ex-Shox(s)

Questions I have will it matter if I forgo installing prior to the first sighting in session.?

Wondering how much they effect the speed if at all?

Do they really make it that much more quieter considering all the other sound damping accessories that come pre-installed?

Will I do harm waiting to install?

Any thoughts by those that have experience with the damping system

Thanks

If they fall off I have a set you can have for the cost of shipping. I won't put them on my bow, I see no advantage to those. JMHO! :eusa-think:

If you don't put them on, then you won't have to look for them when they fall off

Just kidding, but not really. You'll be perfectly fine without them, shoot away!

Thanks. You may be kidding but I owned a Horton Fury which pretty much was what I believe put the Original Horton out of business back around 2012. It had Rubber String Stop bumpers which would always flying off after the shot. Spend a lot of time looking for them in the grass.. Went through a few sets and have numerous serious major issues in the first two weeks . Then ruin the next weeks archery moose hunt when I was lucky enough to draw a rare Bull Tag from the Ontario Draw.
Had a Major failure first day of the hunt including loosing the rubber string stops which left me without a weapon to hunt with and my only choice was to pack up and drive back home 500 kms and returned the Fury to the dealer for my money back.
Bought an Equinox in it's place and have never looked back since.

So I am a little paranoid when it comes to glued on rubber bumpers / things in the strings path from that experience.

Like stated in a post above, using the Ex-Shox is a matter of choice. I used my Axe 340 without them for several shots, then decided to install them. There is a difference with them on. Whether perceived or otherwise, the vibration seems to be reduced, and I would imagine that the speed might also have been reduced. As far as them "flying off", so far in my case they haven't. I did make sure to let a full 48 hours to pass before taking any shots.
Having since taken several shots, I prefer using them and, unless they fall off, I will continue to use them.

I’ve had absolutely no luck with them staying on. They worked great until they didn’t. One flies off, I take the other off and life goes on. I’ve had them on the 355,350,335,335 Raid, and the 308. None have lasted. I am fairly confident I followed the proper installation process. Haven’t yet put them on the 340 but I’m sure one day I’ll give the ex another try.

I could imagine the stress and trauma that these lil pads take with each shot so I’m not surprised. Just the nature of physics.
