....I was at work about 5 miles away as the crow flies...could see the smoke rising from the towers over the horizon....left work to pick up my 6 year old at the time from school...all of the schools closed so we all wound up home wondering what was to happen next....

....and to think when I was going to Pace University and when I worked in NYC the train use to stop at the WTC....I can still remember the long stairs leading from the train station to the street.

....sad, very sad! :(

Anthony

Ps we actually knew a couple of people who worked in the towers and were murdered that day!

I was in the middle of a fishing trip (campers & tents) in Northern Ontario, approximately 50 miles due south of Timmins in a very remote area (no cell service and very limited TV or radio). We had just came back from a successful morning of pickeral (walleye) fishing when one of the other people in the area told us about what happened. I found it difficult to breathe. I spent the next few hours trying to help people get TVs hooked up to receive some sort of coverage for information as radio coverage gave information but seemed to be unreal.

One older man, that lived in Europe during WW2, when he was told about what happened, said " the world as we knew it will never be the same".

Another couple of gentleman, from Pennsylvania, were devistated and we tried to get them as much information as we could, they were staying in tents and did not bring anything like tvs or radios. They drove to town to make phone calls and gather info but was told to not come home as government statements directed.

My cousin had a brother-in-law that was in the tower, he never came home.

Yes the attack was in the United States, but it was an attack on the WHOLE WORLD.

Every September 11, I stop to remember, just as much as I do on November 11 in Canada. The words from the older gentleman come back ........ no words have ever been any more accurate ....... the world changed that day.

LEST WE NEVER FORGET

I was driving N on Hwy. 27 just out of Buchanan, GA heading back to my office in Rome, GA when the reports started in. I got back to the office just a few minutes before Tower 2 got hit and told everyone that I thought were under terrorist attack. They all thought I had gone crazy until the reports of more attacks filtered in. By then I think every radio in the building was on and everyone was believing we were actually under attack.

Was at work setting up a new product program. Had a small television in our tool room, and we were watching in disbelief.

I was in the city during the attacks...was surreal. I still remember leaving work and taking the train home, and when we got out of the tunnel people were shocked at the smoke we could see. It smoked for weeks after, every single day on the way in to the city and out it was a reminder that will forever be burned into my mind.

Gone but never forgotten.

I was at work the day before their were layoffs and they pulled 1/2 of the remaining worker's to a meeting to inform us about our status as a business and when we got out of the meeting the other 1/2 of the workers were all shoked looking and told us we were under some kind of attack.
I called my wife and told her to keep the kids at home and do not leave the house and keep tv on.
I could not stop watching the coverage for months ,I hated watching it but couldn't stop following the coverage ,got really depressed and I did not even loose any one personally.
I was layed off less than a year latter after 13 yrs service ,the business is closed for Good.

I have no words to express my sadness, horror and oddly enough, anger the day it happened and every time 9/11 comes to mind. What a horrible act by deeply evil people who should be............ Enough said. My condolences to America and it's people.
