Micro arrow opinions

Post by georgiaboy »

I’m having some limb issues with my micro...I had it dialed in with stock quills and 125gr heads for a total weight of 375grs. I think that might just be to light with all the stress on those small limbs.
I have two dozen 18” BEE’s with 100gr tips come in at 421 grains. I’m thinking of buying the sound suppression kit for my new limbs and stepping up to slinging some logs.
Thinking I’ll be around 330fps but it should help the bow and hit like a truck 8)

You could go with a 110 insert and a 170 foc .l know you use spitfires also. A 150 slick trick. There are a lot of heavy traditional low profile heads out there also.
I know what your trying to achieve .l just think its wrong to have to shoot a different bolt to alleviate a problem.
I'm not a fan of the little limbers l have a 1st generation micro with no issues actually l hardly use it my brother uses it. I dont think the few inches saved is worth the worry its just my opinion. I will stick with the matrix bows and better yet the exo bows ....my favorite to each his own. Good luck this season to you GB.!

I have BEZS arrows batches that land around 375, 380, 390, 400, 420. They all shoot perfectly. However... The 400+ really makes the micro feel better. My 370micro only shoots 400gr plus.
The only thing I attach to my limbs are strings. Try the 421 without the suppression, you'll be surprised. If you don't have a DM arrow puller, better order one now

It also helps if you use a heavier string.
I just swapped out the factory EL string, with my own custom made string. Upon doing so, I weighed them and there was only a 4 grain difference. The EL string (with string leeches) weighed 134 gr. and my custom string (without) 138 gr. However, the string leeches weigh 22 gr. each, for a total of 44 gr., meaning that the EL factory string only weighs 90 gr. without the leeches. That's a total of 48 grains (53%) less than my string,
That makes me wonder how much more stress would be added to the limbs of an Micro using an EL string without the leeches.

I’m using BE Zombies at 417 grains total, seems pretty good for the Micro bows.

.... nice....!

.... me thinks me have to make up a batch of 400g.... might now get a chance on using my 110g inserts... everything else stays status quo... should put me right around 400g,. I might also purchase 125 g Spitfires which will put me around 425... maybe I can give them a road test next week at the range!

Ya give it a try, I used to chase speed. Then I started listening the the "Excal Elders" and realized you can either be faster with more power, or launch a heavier arrow. I've gone the route of the latter. Within reason of course. Here's where I'm at for both my 370 and 345 this season. Rocks the Reinhardt around at 30 yards

I shoot 16: BEZS with 110gr brass insert, 125gr BH, Lumenok and 2: feathers. Coming in around that 425gr mark and hit very very very very hard. ONe of my 27 strand FLemish strings, and nothing else to slow things down on the limbs. Shoot that arrow from my 335 and 355 with great accuracy from either bow.

I see zero issues as far as hurting the bow using 375 gr arrow set ups. With that weight it will zip through a deer. I personally would rather shoot something in the 390 to 410 gr range. I could shoot something heavier but I see no advantage, substantiated or otherwise. I find arrows in that weight class are very, very accurate. I like that weight because I know it's heavy enough and I get a reasonable flatness of trajectory. The only thing I add to the bow to ease the impact of a "lighter" arrow is a Flemish string.

I am shooting a first gen Micro 335 and shooting Spinal Tapps at 422 grains. I have a Boo string also. It has been trouble free. You can really tell a difference between the 422grain arrows and ones that are less than 400. Bow seems much louder and seems to have more vibration. I also just last week up a HHA Optimizer Speed Dial with a Leupold 1.25-4X VX-R on it and man this thing is sweet. I shot a few arrows at 80 yards yesterday and had about a 10mph crosswind, but still put them all on a paper plate in about a 4" group. I would never shoot at a deer that far but it was neat watching the arrow come in to the target through the scope on 4X.

I'm having really good luck with factory and easton 16.5 quills with the 150 excalibur bolt broadhead, that broadhead shoots VERY well on my se350, and the new axe340. Also on my 10point shadow nxt and turbo 2. I really like that broadhead

Your 375 gr arrows should shoot well, the 421 gr arrows you have to be will be better in energy n easier on limb stress. I also find 400 gr area to be good fer using from Micro models
