Doe # 2 bites the dust

Post by Hester0305 »

I was blessed this afternoon when 5 deer came in this afternoon to feed and I decided to take one of the medium sized does with my New Excalibur Blackout 380 that I put together yesterday. I was using the NAP FOC 170 gr. broadhead again and it devastated the shoulder almost cut the leg off the doe as it exited. The broadhead survived with one slight bent blade, these are mean broadheads of of a crossbow. The doe made a death run and cut a flip at about 15 yards when it hit a small drainage ditch then got up and made it another 15 yards before crashing hard. I wanted to break the Matrix 380 in as soon as I could. I have to work all week so it will be next weekend before I get to go out again. Good luck everyone.

Good things come in threes. Two does and one buck, way to go.
Will there be a 4th?

I hunted another stand Saturday morning and ended up running a nice 9 pt off that morning, he was there almost an hour before daylight. I ended up pulling my card out of my camera and saw the time he left Saturday morning and it was a couple of minutes before I got there.

If I can I like to put a few deer in the freezer so I can start buck hunting the cooler it gets here, I would like to take another doe before switching to buck only hunting.

Good luck everyone I know some of you are waiting anxiously for your season to get here.

Great job! to both you and your wife. Really good considering the heat we've been having. I sat last night in a spot where my buddy missed one, killed one and then 2 days later I killed one (almost 2 tat night) and saw zip. Hardly even any birds. HOT HOT HOT
