Matrix 350LE speed with 150gr BH?

Post by Ontario Savage »

Fellas
I'm shooting BE zombie slayers with 150 grain slick tricks out of my matrix 350LE with factory string and REDS..my speed ring is set at 320 fps in order for the 20 / 30 / 40 yard shots to be spot on target...
My question: is it normal to see a 30 fps speed loss when adding a heavier broadhead like I did?

Don't take the numbers on the scope as any kind of gospel but, It's not out of the ordinary. Those Zombies will likely be heavier than factory arrows too. Bet it hits hard with that setup

Oh yeah I absolutely love the setup and would not change a thing just wanted to confirm with more experienced shooters if that type of speed loss is normal. Thx for the reply janesy.

My 350LE shot 338fps with a stock string and Diablo arrow (250gr) and a 150gr field point. Since the Zombies are a kittle heavier, you would be a little slower than mine. You've got nothing to worry about, your bow is shooting normal.

My Micro 355 with 412gr Zombies, including 150gr Slick Tricks Xbows, chronos at 340fps. I set up speed ring for 340, zeroed at 20 yards. I can hit the 3” circles on my target up to 60yds using the marks in the scope.

Ontario Savage will be right in around there. Depending on who made his ZS's he'll be around 430Grn give or take.

My Micro 355 is my first and only experience with a crossbow. From everything I’ve read and all the videos I’ve watched many folks seem too hung up on speed. There have been thousands and thousands of game taken ethically with speeds under 300 FPS as long as the shoots are well placed with good quality sharp broadheads within the limits of the equipment and skill set of the hunter. I believe ACCURACY, ACCURACY AT SENSIBLE ARCHERY DISTANCES is the most import factor in a good ethical harvest.
It seems to me a drop of 10 or 20 FPS from the advertised speed of a bow means nothing as long as the bow is accurate to a known distance or distances.
I have more experience hunting, shooting and reloading rifles. A deer can be ethically harvested with a 223 over 3000fps, a 3030 over 2000 FPS or 30-06 over 2900fps. The point is all 3 will harvest the deer within the limits.
Sorry got a little long winded lol.

My 350LE is shooting 342fps with a stock string and diablo arrows. I’m using 125gr spitfires...sounds like your right where you need to be. I’m sure you’re KE is close to a hundred pounds. I guarantee it hits like a truck. 8)
