Posting KEEP OUT

Post by elkaholic »

Hunting the same private land, the last 5 yrs. Most people around area do not post. I can't speak for owner , an I know it's not a big deal to have signs up, and most don't like signs everywhere. Think you have to have them so far apart etc. So it usually takes a lot of signs.

But, after the other day. Sitting for hrs. We got one dandy 10 pointer. Only seen once on camera. Here he comes 8:30am. Gonna give a perfect chance at less than 40. He stops , looks back , snorts tail up , gone. I'm like. WTH!#!# , then HERE COMES A Guy. Not hunting but Guess he just checking out the woods. Anyway he knows its private land ,but since it's not posted , he figures he has the right to hunt it.

I tried to explain it's not open for hunting but since I'm not the owner , I really cant do anything . I know what I wanted to do!!

I did inform him the owner doesn't allow people he hasn't given permission to hunt. AND HE WON'T GIVE IT TO YOU.

I got the feeling he'll be back during rifle season with a gun in hand. Then what!

Here a call from the Landowner to a Game Warden would fix it.

I don't know the laws in AZ, but in Texas it doesn't require printed signs everywhere to "post" your property. Purple paint sprayed on trees, fence post, gates, you name it, is an acknowledged symbol of "Keep Out" here in Texas. It's even posted in the Texas Penal Code.

If you "lease" a piece of property, you can tell someone to "stay off", "Keep Out" :eusa-naughty: or whatever type of verbiage you want to use to get your point across. (once again, Texas Law). You are the 'agent" in control of that parcel of land. If the owner of that parcel allows another person on the lease without your consent, then the owner (he/she), has violated your lease agreement and you are entitled a refund of your lease payment.

I would invest in a phone call to my local District Attorney to find out just where I stood on legal grounds. Also ask your local Game Warden.

Respectfully,
AJ

Not too much you can do if the owner won't back you. I have a couple spots where the owner has given me written permission to act on his behalf. If I meet a person tresspassing I talk to them get some info and them tell them to stay off and document the occurence if I run into them again I will contact the police and have them charged . So far I haven't run into anyone twice prpobably my demeaner in the first encounter discourages a return lol

If you do encounter someone be courteous while getting your point across. You don’t want the encounter to develop into an altercation. There are some real crazies out there. Let Law Enforcement handle it.

I have all my local Game Wardens numbers on speed dial. They respond very quickly if asked to.

People don't respect anything these days. I've had a guy spook 4 deer and then walk in my woods with his dog. He thinks he can just walk wherever he wants to.

Been there done that I usually ask the owner if anyone else is suppose to be on the land if he says no I usually ask them what they want me to do if I run across someone on the property if they tell me to run them off or call the wildlife officer I usually keep hunting there. If they say other people are allowed on the property i usually hunt it once or twice then move to a different place. I’ve ran people off before but I always make sure I have the owners blessings. I’ve always like the ones that say they have permission to hunt the property but can’t produce written permission or a correct owners names. I usually tell them to get off the property and if they are caught on the property a second time the wildlife officer will be called. I’ve never had any problems after telling someone to leave and never ran across them anymore. I can’t stand people that hunt or fish without permission.

Guess it was a guest of a neighbor down the rd. We still made it known it was land he wasn't suppose to be trespassing on. We also told do not let it happen again or legal açtion would be taken! !

I'm l lucky to have some properties all to myself. Now because of my connections at work.
But the majority of the archery hunting takes place here by "trespassing " .
Its very simple no ones gonna give you permission to hunt the railroad tracks, the 10 acres behind old k mart, the island in the industrial park, the highway jughandles.etc. trespassing is a normal way of hunting here right or wrong. Its was totally normal for my wife to drop me off in the minivan and l run in for a Saturday evening hunt only to be extracted at dusk ..many a time she helped shove a buck in the back on a tarp. Lolol. Hunting the suburbs has it's own methods of you want to kill nice deer. The cops are so sick of car hit deer unless someone calls them they turn a blind eye anyway .

So you are saying it is OK to trespass and poach deer on others property? And even admitting to poaching...

I stated that l have property to hunt on.
But you can try to your hearts desire to get permission to hunt on a state owned jug handle and it's not gonna happen.
I'm not implying sneaking on someone's lease either but around here like it or not it's how it goes you have the opportunity to hunt on a small plot that's not posted you do it or you dont hunt.
Yes l regularly push the boundaries of my friends backyard into the next door mini mansions 20 acres that a strick non hunting liberal lives and frankly l love it .
I will not sneak on another property that has another permitted hunter on it l do have morals. The jughandles.shopping center strips and back of the movie theater are our state game lands
How about the morals of shooting a buck where you have permission and having it die on the next yard over.
If you knock on the door your gonna stir up a whole hornet's nest .So you simply Rambo over and get it or it spoils a day until the warden and cops settle the whole fiasco. There are many variables to hunting and many rights and wrongs.
