After a Rainy Hunt

Post by Mnlc90 »

What do you do with your crossbow after a rainy days hunt?

Any particular routine or things to watch out for?

Thanks.

I wipe down the rail and limbs with Teflon Spray and a soft cloth. Flush out the trigger with WD40 if I got pretty wet.

Dry off your Excalibur sensibly with a dry towel and DO NOT dry it near a heat source like a fireplace as you can damage your limbs and possibly injure yourself. Some have learned this the hard way. Not me, but years back there have been one or two posts on this forum about drying near a heat source and its consequences.

I leave mine in the bag for a few hours as to not accumulate more moisture from condensation (I do this rain or not). I'll then put a fan on the bow or use a boot drier that has 4 hoses.

I shake mine like a dog. :eusa-liar:
I set mine on the stirrup with the scope side of the stock resting against the wall with a towel under it, then after a few hours wipe it down, and give the trigger a shot of WD-40.

Blow off with mild compressed air and l lay on a towel on top of my oil burner heater cabinet. (Its not hot just mildly warm) for a few hours speeds up drying.
Then wipe with window cleaner also cleaning scope lenses with a soft cloth. Rewax string. ,wd 40 on stock trigger, lighter fluid on Triggertec.
