Micro 355

Post by bigbowman »

How hard is it to cock a Micro 355 with a rope cocker? Is it harder than cocking a Matrix 380? Thanks for any help I can get!

Yes it is Brian. The matrix starts soft and ends with all the weight. The micro, altho the draw is much shorter, the weight comes on almost immediately and stays with it to the top. Most people who find the 335 ok, but have difficulty with the 355, say it's in the last inch that really gets you.

Ok thanks! Looks like I will need a crank then! I could barely cock the Matrix 380!

I have no problem cocking my 380 a few times, but I use the crank at the range. The Axe I can rope cock a few times also, but it's harder in my opinion than the 380, and the Micro 355, forget it! I can do it once, then I'm gassed! Get the crank Brian. I bought extra clips for the Charger Crank and installed them on my Matrix 380.

It may have a lot to do with your height. I am old, 5'8" and 150lbs and have no trouble cocking the Micro355 20 or 30 times and hardly feel it the next day. My BD400 on the other hand, is a lot for me to pull more than a dozen or so times. Now I just do 8-10 shots with the BD400 using the rope to get some exercise and then use my crank for the rest of the session. I never thought to use my crank on my Micro 355.

It does have a lot to do with technique as well. I have my ropes set up to be almost 10" short on one side after latching it on the other. You should warm up as if you were working out in the gym and basically snap the rope up with no hesitation having your shoulders locked and using mostly legs . If you try to muscle it up deliberately it seems much harder. That's why I find the BD400 more difficult, I am too short to continue the snap beyond the ADF and have to muscle it up the rest of the way.

If you have back or shoulder issues or find the rope difficult, by all means use a crank, don't hurt yourself because of pride.

Agreed. I have no issues cocking my 355 with the rope. It came with the crank, I tried it once to see how it worked and it’s been on the bench ever since.

I jumped right on that deal! Now just time to get it all together to shoot it! It’s just a bare bow with no quiver & hardware, no scope, no stringing aid, no rope cocker or no string. 👍

I was able to cock my BD380 about 3-4 times at one shooting but that was all! I’m hoping that I can cock this little beast one or two times per shooting session.

Cocked and shot my first 355. Yep the last jn. Sucks.
Dang loud snap on the shot. Zing the bolt right along. Doubt the deer will care. But might string jump at 40 + yrds.

Cocked and shot it several times. It's a close freind who doesn't even use it , cuz to hard to cocking for him. I mention a crank and I mentioned he could will it to me ! Lol

I'll use it for piggy this yr, just so it gets to go hunting.

I've owned both also and the Matrix 380 to me is a good bit easier to cock for me than the Micro 355. I ended up having to buy a Charger crank for extended shooting sessions. Good luck with your new Excalibur.

I have a Micro and all I use anymore is the rope cocker. I have a C2 crank, but after a hook breaking and causing me to buy new underwear :wtf: , it's in a drawer gathering dust. I know I'll eventually need it one day, so I'm saving it. :D
Anyway, I get plenty of exercise everyday....I have to drag my big :eusa-naughty: out of bed in the morning!!

Shorten the rope cocker to where you have to pull up on the bow string to grab it with the cocker. Makes it a dang site easier to pull!!
