A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Most of my decent cam bucks hit the dirt, but I did capture one promising young buck that we didn't see in the late season. He has dual split brows so he could be offsping of the 11pt I killed.
Image
Hopefully he made it through the rest of the season and adds some size and mass for next year. I leave my cams out year round, so I'll know in about a month what made it through buck season.

Yes Sir he is! I have to admit, he'd be tough to pass. However, he is STILL hoovering up corn at me feeder like a cheap vacuum cleaner as of yesterday!!
That'll give him another year for growth.

This buck is on the same piece of property. Just always at night.

I ran three camera's on this one property, over food sources, water and trails. Had a number of GOOD bucks on my sd cards during daylight, but not this smart guy!! :eusa-doh:
Maybe next season??? :D

Its really hard to pass on a nice buck but once you let a few go the urge goes away.
One thing l learned is that big bucks attract other big bucks so it's like money or "bucks" into bank when you have them coming in like that.
If your feeding them and they have bedding they wont go far. Deer are as lazy as we are.
